ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Masawar - i know it's a little late but Enterprise will rent to people under 25 for an additional cost. I've had to pay that little extra in the past.

I really don't have many friends that have a tow vehicle and are willing to let me borrow it for 5 days and put like 1,500 miles on it. Not even my own father will let me borrow his SUV.

I do however have a friend who is suppose to be picking up a truck this weekend. If all goes well he might just come with us, but he's getting the truck from CL so i'm not holding my breath.

I've even considered leasing a truck for 6 months lol
Yes well they do give you a vehicle if you are under 25, but it has to be anything but a pickup truck and a suv I am in Canada so i dont know the rules might be different in your area. and also the cargo van that they offered.. they wanted 1000$ down deposit + proof of my own vehicle insurance + 30$ extra a day on under 25 insurance. Talk about getting screwed.

It doesnt matter wherever you buy your truck from.. just get it inspected with a proper mechanic, or from a stealership of the respective car, in this way you will have the full details of what is wrong and what is right. Best of luck with solving this issue, surely something will work out for you.

Edit: in btw, tow truck doesnt has to be a ford pickups etc.. even my 2002 Pathfinder has a tow hitch in it.. in fact.. i have seen Maximas with tow hitch.. look into these as well.

In most cases, it's only unltd mileage if you're going into a state that touches your home state.

I don't really want to buy a truck, because I rather not pay insurance on a vehicle i'm going to drive maybe 3 times a year. I'm already paying insurance on three cars as it is.

The plan from day one was to drive the s2000 down, but we recently were afforded access to a car trailer, so we figured we'd try and take advantage of that. If we can't, we can't. Life goes on.

Hahahaha I wish I had a maxima that would tow this. Cars like that might be capable of just pulling a tire rack or something similar but there is no way that it is going to pull a trailer 15' - 20' long with a car on it.

A pathfinder would be capable of towing it. I've looked into renting similar types of vehicles but they just don't come tow capable from the rental companies i've tried.

Unfortunately I just cannot afford another car + Insurance right now.

And Enterprise doesn't rent any vehicles with a tow hitch unless it's for commercial use and you have proof that you're company has over $1Million in Liability insurance.

Weren't you just declared legally blind?

Rusty, have you checked to see how much that million in insurance will cost you? When my Dad had to have his to become a contractor, it was a lot cheaper than you might think.

Sorry about suggesting you do something fraudulent, not everyone I know has such good moral fiber. (what do you do that I'd be "job security?") It's not anything I do anymore, but there's been a few times I was BUH-ROKE and had to move things a long distance, but couldn't afford the outrageous mileage charges. I wonder what the rental places would do if the speedo cable accidentally came unhooked at the tranny, clips break and things pop out all the time. Not suggesting it again, just wondering.

I think I have a pretty good "Stragety" actually, but thanks for your financial advice.

Again, i'm not going to buy and pay insurance on a fourth vehicle so I can drive it a few times a year, and have it sitting outside my house for the other 363 days. Money really isn't the issue, it's the principle.

I think we've got all the suggestions we need, thanks to the people who have reading comprehension skills and provided useful feedback.

I graduate Law school in May. I don't think we would have the time to get the LLC and liability insurance before we need to leave anyway

There's a lawyer vs. legal actions joke in there somewhere, but I'll leave it alone.

I'd say shop CL for a good beater with a hitch. It doesn't have to be pretty, just dependable. It also doesn't have to be insured if it's off the street. You could insure it during race season, when it gets the most use, then park it and drop it's incurance the rest of the year. It also might only be a little more each month to insure. You just need the basics, so it should be cheap, older vehicle, rarely driven, third vehicle - those all add up to some savings.

Yes, I am telling you I have no use for a truck outside of towing the car a few times a year. This is the first time I've needed a tuck in years.

And Yes I am "some sort of Microsoft Excel programmer" actually. Except I work for EMC, and I program software that has nothing to do with Excel.
