ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Your first junkyard visit...

For me, I just went to my first junkyard ever this past weekend and I honestly felt like I was 8 years old in a candy store.
Running to all the accords I could find and seeing what I could rip out and take home to enjoy.
I managed to walk away with some almost mint sun visors, new dash clock, cruise control, washer fluid tube, cup holder console, rear mud flaps, and a 4 dr EX front lip that I went to put on and realized I had no holes for the bolts.....zip ties are my new duct tape.

    How about you?

It depends if you are going because of recreational purposes or because of necessity.

My first JY visit was due out of necessity because my power window motor had died and I didn't want to leave my car with a window down... specially in the neighborhood I live in.
So I went, found the piece(lots of CB7s there, freaking sweet!), took me forever to get it off since it was my first time(but you learn from experience) and went to pay for it. Now they charge me $33 for the freaking thing.... I swear, is it made out of gold or something? They really overcharge for parts there. Also, the worker that tags the old parts is really obnoxious. I speak perfect spanish, but to communicate with that guy you have to be able to speak Mexican(not to be rude to other mexican people here). Yes, for some reason when speaking to that person, mexican and spanish are two absolutely different languages.
Lets just put at this, I love going to the JY and getting the parts... but I hate dealing with the JY employees.

What JY? Houston TX, Junk Yard located in Wallisville RD close to hwy 610.
Accord 93 LX: H23 intake mani, Ebay short ram, P12 ecu, Full exhaust. Lots of noise... and that's about it, just noise. LOL
Mazdapeed MX-5 04: Begi Intake, Forge BOV, Ebay FMIC. Whoooooooosh... Phhhff!

My first junk yard visit was recreational, but after being broke in to the jy way of life, pull-a-part was nearly an inspiration. I didn't have any money when went the first time, I just went to expierence it. But the second time I went I got a ex sun roof (waiting to install), a pair of rear marker lights (prelude red ones like Gunrunner's) and a set of off brand wheels with shity tires all for $25 at the pull-a-part in Winston Salem, NC.

I dreamed of going with my dad to the JY since I was small, but couldn't due to my age. I finally turned 16 and I had the opportunity to go to the JY and it was far better then I expected it to be. I never thought that there was so many different cars in there, but when I finally got my cb, it could not get any better since I could finally buy parts for my car; it is my cars whore house lol

Mine was about 4-5 years ago. It was a bright and sunny day, I remember the smell of dead cars was strong that day.... Seriously, the junkyard I go to is in Upper Marlboro, Maryland and they ALWAYS have atleast 80 accords sitting around and on most days 30-40 CB7's. One time I went they had close to 100 CB7's, I remember feeling like a kid who just woke up to Easter morning but at the last second I realized it was actually Christmas. I remember taking things to just take things, like fuses, relays, bolts, nuts, washers, I mean just little things. I got a new hood for $25 and all it had was a very small dent in the front of it, I actually didn't even notice it because it was so small. New front LCA's for $30 because the workers at the yard had pulled them off prior, and a rear disc conversion off a fresh junker for $100. Now my friends and I wait till we each have a good list of things we need then we take two trucks and go, I like going with a group of people because we can multitask, helping each other find sweet hidden treasures. One time a friend found Omni Power coilovers for his Civic and paid $50 for them, cleaned them up and sold them for $300 online.

You can use self-tapping screws to attach your front lip.

And good find on the rear mudflaps. Those are one of my favorite pieces.

                          Wow...you too, huh?

Even upon trips since then, i still find a joy in coming across a yard that is plentiful. Not only with 4Gs, but 5Gs, 6Gs, Integras, Legends, old BMWs, certain Nissans, etc. Sometimes i do feel like a kid and im running back and forth gathering parts and hoarding them, lol.

Exactly. You can learn how to remove certain parts, and you test fitment on other parts as well.

Also, just somethng about being at a JY thats cool. I dont know what it is, but as long the weather's decent, its always a fun trip, even if you come up empty-handed.
