ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Chances are that it's just a "Spoon chip" they sell on eBay. If anything, it dumps extra fuel into your engine, which isn't good.

I contacted spoon and they said it was a discontinued model, i bought the motor from foreign motors inc and this is the ecu that came with the jdm h22a, but i do plan going turbo and friend was saying i should get p28 or is that later down the road?

Id search part numbers. Usually spoon will have a serial number and a stamp of approval for there products. If you can take that map out and read it on crome lol its most likely an ebay map. Can you take a clearer picture? Spoon did chip some factory ECU's but it was a minor remap for performance.

If spoon responded and said it's discontinued, then perhaps it's genuine... though the P13 can't be properly modified, as far as I know. Only a few things can be adjusted.

A P28 or P72 would be good down the line, but you don't need a tunable ECU for quite some time. Use a stock P13 for now.

p13's are not able to be chipped....stickers could have been swapped....that could even be a different ecu..is that chip able to be removed from the socket

That actually looks like a genuine Spoon Sports chip
That or Ebay chips have gotten crazier.

                    Thats also a 4WS ECU.
Run it in an H22 and find out what its doin.
But if it came from Japan, put Race fuel (Atleast 100octane) or it could blow up your motor with no knock sensor

Spoon DID in fact sell P13 ECUs back in the days, and they have been discontinued for some time...A member on here is currently selling one (CLICK HERE) with Spoon V3 chip in it, and I happen to be running the exact same Spoon ECU on my car, running the same chip, and thus the same specs..(4800-5000RPM VTEC x-over, no rev/speed limiter, advanced ignition timing, etc.)..

And I can assure you that this ECU makes a noticeable improvement over a stock P13 The car doesn't exactly run faster, but it runs MUCH smoother throughout the whole RPM range, from idling to redline (okay there's no rev limiter, so technically it's from idling to whatever I rev my motor up to)...Car feels a LOT more responsive, especially between 3000-5000RPM, before VTEC kicks in..And it definitely doesn't dump more fuel into my engine My car never backfires during decel when running the Spoon P13, but it always did whenever I ran the stock P13..

I've tried switching to stock P13 a couple of times to compare the Spoon P13 with the stock P13, and my car did feel more sluggish everytime I ran the stock P13...VTEC did kick in harder with stock P13, but from idling to 5000RPM, my car didn't pick up as fast as with the Spoon P13, and nowhere near as smooth either..

Having said that, genuine Spoon ECUs are usually sealed with their yellow stickers, to make sure the ECU has never been tampered with..My Spoon ECU even had the original red paint on all the cover screws as an indicator on whether the ECU cover has been opened or not..And of course, you can't miss the big fat Spoon decal on the cover

So to the OP, my guess is that if you don't have any of Spoon's seals on the outside, or a big Spoon logo decal on the cover, or the red paint that I mentioned, then maybe yours is just a P13 running Ebay chip? I'd say run it and see how it goes

A Japanese ECU won't blow up a motor with 91-93 octane fuel. The Japanese use a different rating system, so their octane numbers are higher. The fuel isn't all that much different.

That chip, on the other hand... it's not difficult to duplicate the look of a genuine chip. If it's a fake, it could be dangerous. If it's real... then your motor most likely does not have the modifications necessary for it to work properly. No generic tune is ever good for an engine.
