ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Pioneer DEH-P2900MP Headunit
    5.25" Alpine Type-S Speakers (front)
    6"x9" Alpine Type-S Speakers (rear)

    Ratings:

    H/U: 7/10.
VERY easy to operate. It's nearly idiot proof.
But, the lighting isn't adjustable. It's a little hard to see in certain lighting conditions during the day.

    Speakers: 8/10.
Love the sound, love the price. Nice highs, nice mids. Not concerned about any bass, which makes this a near perfect setup.

              HU: DEH-P6900UB
Front: 6.5" Polk db651s (driven by HU)
Rear: Alpine 3-way 6x9 Type S (driven by HU)
Amp: Sony 400w RMS monoblock amp (can't remember model number. Manufactured a few years back, maybe 2005)
Sub: Rockford Fosgate 12" Punch 2 in RF 1.25cf ported enclosure

HU: 7/10. The feature set is great, and I really like having a USB port. I bought it over other units for the superior radio reception that Pioneer units tend to have. My only complaint, and a significant one, is the brightness of the unit. For this generation Pioneer opted to go with bright blue for all of its lighting, and while it does dim, it is not enough and night driving becomes an eye strain. I keep meaning to make a cover for it, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Front/rear speakers: 10/10. For what they are, they do the job quite well. I definitely prefer the 6.5" speaker over the previous 5.25" Polks that I was able to cram into the ported housing. Rear deck speakers are solid as well. Both (especially front) could do with independant amplification though.

Amp: 10/10. Does the trick, price was right. Sony gets a bad rap for its audio products for both longevity and sound quality, but I've had excellent luck with their monoblock amps.

Sub: I miss the depth of range my old Elemental Designs 12" carried (next sub will not be an Alpine or a RF, definitely going back to eD).

My last system consisted of a mid-range Pioneer HU, 5.25" Polk's in the front, RF Punch's in the rear deck (6x9 2 ways), a 900w RMS Sony amp, and a 12" Elemental Designs 12" 13Kv2 sub in a 1.2cf sealed box. Comparatively my new HU/speakers are way better, but I miss my sub setup

                          I have a Phoenix Gold RSD 12' sub in a pre-made box.
