nicotine causes chemical addiction...it is not just "willpower" you must break both mental and chemical addiction

There's only one way to cure a chemical addiction, stop feeding it the chemicals until it's gone. The only way to do that is willpower. After over 20 years of smoking, it was willpower that kept me from lighting up another one. It's very easy to just have one, and then you're just having another one and then another one. Even with the medications and therapies available to help you stop smoking, it all boils down to you making the decision and sticking to it.

No shit lol. That would be the cigarettes controling you and making you want another one. I've been smoking for almost twelve years and am just now looking at quiting. I've tried it a few times before but never stuck with it and that was laziness on my part. The only way i've found that works for me to quit anything is to just stop doing it. It doesn't always work for everyone though. After maybe a day or two it's really not too bad anymore. You jst have to stick with it.

E-Cigarette... they have different levels of nicotine so u can still get ur nicotine and switch levels to help finally stop all together... 3 friends brought it and love it, 2 quit completely now no more e-cigarette, and the other one still smokes the e-cigarette only when he really wants it

never smoked in my entire life... I always hated the smell, wasting money, and look of it.

Im 24 and really have a hatred against smoking..

My parents smoked alot when I grew up and I stayed away until they kicked the habit.

i dont really get this chemical reaction. sometimes it's all mental and it gets to me but if i stay busy at work and running around, i dont have time for a cig because i hate smoking in my car and around other people because it's very inconsiderate that they have to smell my smoke.

after you deal with the amount of shit and chemicals of working in a machine shop, a cigarette isnt all that bad. i dont wear masks but im always smelling rust, metal flakes, glass bead, carb clean, paint and floor solvent.

I honestly just went cold turkey the other week.

my personal opinion, it differs from how cigs really make you feel.
I usually got antsy, easily frustrated, stuff like that.
so I took a few days and tried my best to clear my head of nicotine.
felt so much better without it.
so I just kept the "I hate this feeling so much" thought in my head and it's seriously just gone away.
but like I said, if it makes you feel differently than me, it might be a harder venture.
if you want to though, give my method a shot haha.

My grandfather used to do that, he died of cancer at around 53 years old (I was 8). Keep that in mind, though I'm sure you already know.
