ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Still, 149whp is QUITE good. That's nearly a 50% increase over stock, with bolt-on mods. The H22 only makes about 165whp, and it does so higher in the RPM range.
Dosent an EX come with 140hp from the factory? Or is that number not to the wheels?

its been done before, i've would had expected this from a stage 1

you'all think this is too much of a cam for that motor?
It's an additional 14HP, which works out to a further 10%, which is not bad, considering we probably don't really know what the cam specs are.

Also, depending on what other parts he bolted on, the cam might be capable of more.

The fact that it added another 14HP while still having a very nice torque curve is a good thing.

*Also, the age/mileage of the engine would certainly play a role. You can really say unless you see the baseline with no mods.

Peak horsepower and power in a usable powerband are two different things. If your motor has a crap curve, and with a sharp peak at high RPM, it's useless.

And yes, 140hp. Drop 20% for drivetrain losses and age. You're looking at 112whp.

I would change that slightly to say the part of the curve you intend to be working in. You can deal with a gnarly peaky curve, but it has to have the gearing to go with it. This is a good streetable powerband though. The peak torque amount is really good too. I would have to go look at some stock graphs, but it seems to me like that is around a 20-30 lb-ft gain over stock, which would certainly be noticeable.

Very true. For a drag race car with short gearing, a powerband from 5500-8000 wouldn't be terrible. But for a street car, it's useless to say "My engine makes 180whp!" when the majority of that is well above what a NORMAL person would be operating in.

The one that makes 145 is the *barf* F22B1.

so if i hook my V-TECH phone to my motor will i have a V-TECH?

                          another REAL question. lmao.

if i were to get a stage one cam, would i have to upgrade the valve train too or would the stock a6 valve train be ok? like new valve train tho. not "old ive been in the motor since Jesus was alive" valve train. lol.

The stock valve train should be fine with the Stage 1. It says so on the Bisimoto site, unless they've changed it since I last looked.

I know of people using the Stage 2 cam with the stock valvetrain as well, and having no problems... but i wouldn't risk that. High RPMs are the biggest issue. The soft, old stock valve springs may not be able to keep up, which can result in the pistons getting touchy-feely with the valves.

would installing a cam(no matter what stage) and getting a tune raise the red line or just raise your power band? im sorry. im getting into this tuning thing. lol. ill make my own thread. sorry to flooding this one. lol.

I think jdm92accorn gained about 8whp going from a stock head to a ported one.
