Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    what mods are legal and illegal

    all right guys the title says it all, what is legal and illegal to have on any car in california? doing a project for my gov class and just wanted to have some ideas to put into it.

    also does any one know how cops will find out if the car has legal or illegal parts?

    Loud exhaust, dark tinted windows, HID's if not properly aimed, loud stereos and much more.
    All the cop has 2 do is say its too loud, and cops have tint guns they put over yer windows to mesure them. And if they get blinded by yr headlights either way yr gett'n pulled over...

          You can put illegal parts as long as you don't get pulled over.

          The best parts are so-called "illegal" by the Police.

          If you are worried you can get this:

          Intake - AEM w/ CARB EO
          Header - DC Sports w/ CARB EO
          Exhaust - As long as is not louder than a afterburner

          If you live in a city with little to no hype from idiot tuners , then you'll be fine.
          If you live in a city with hype from idiot tuners screaming MAd JdmZ yo! , then you might wanna be careful about cops.

          Where in CA are you anyway?

            yea basically, it sucks to have so many performance parts to choose from but limited to only parts that pass the CARB standards.

              lowering your car so that the headlights are lower than 22" from the ground is illegal, although rarely enforced.

                  Look into it. Every state has a listing. Its usually like gov.state.ca.org or something like that. Search "California State Laws" and find the "gov" or "state" link.

                    as for how do cops know if u have illegal mods?
                    well i interviewed this cop and told him the question, and he said

                    that the only way they know if they someone has illegal mods is that they don't. they basically look for a car with a modified exhaust(if it is loud) and if the vehicle stands out a lot due to exterior modifications such as tinted windows, wings, blacked out lights, body kits, and even rims.

                      Drive all the way up to Santa Rosa , not that bad. I'm only worried on mine because of it's bad condition.

                          they find out that you have illegal parts if you do illegal things like go 80 on residential when your car is making loud noises that regular cars dont make

                              Everything is illegal in California. Just depends how big of a prick the cop feels like being. I drove for over 2 years with a really loud exhaust. City Police and Highway Patrol never had a problem with me, but the Sherrif's department nailed me with a fix-it ticket. I drove around for the next 3 months before I quieted it down. I was pulled over 3 more times by the Sherrif's department. Can't write a ticket for the same thing haha.There are CARB legal parts to add.I have an AEM cold air intake and DC Sports headers They have CARB exemption stickers.I have custom 2 1/4" after cat piping w/o a resonator. I had a sweet DTM pipe on the end, but the cops didn't like it . Just keep the pipe mellow. I know people that have been nailed for being too low, but it is really rare. Tint is cool, but keep it light on the front windows.HID's are just asking to be pulled over.
