ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Carputer!!! (Computer in Car)

Not only do I love Honda's I also love computers. A friend and myself are working on a project to put a computer in a permanently. Allowing easy programing of sound and engine management. Figuring how get it all to work the way I think it should is going to be tough, but i certainly think that this can be done. I hope to have a writeup of all of this soon....

if you look around the net there is a PC system you can buy for your car. The screen fits a lot of doubledin openings and the PCU is very compact but powerful.

Hmmm I will have to check that out...I wonder if the parts are upgradable...plus that I don't want to use windows in it either. Linux is the way I would like to go with this one too.

yea it uses something other than windows because there were people wondering if they could install windows instead.

            http://www.mp3car.com/

check it out. my buddy's bro have a system in his outback. wifi taht can pick up signals on the freeway. and uploads or downloads files or mp3s while pulling in his driveway. gps, engine management and can acually turn on or off your engine light. speed managemt. etc.

most guys use linux maybe use a DMSL OS or a OS that boots up fast.

computer fast enough or big enough u can put in backup cameras and such and acually monitor ur car movent. so when pulled over you have proof.

pretty cool i'ma planning on doing this one day

              I was on that site.

I got a lilput 7" screen, and an old laptop. I've never gotten a power source though, so I haven't gone anywhere with it. Sadly, I hope to pick up the project again someday.

I've been dying to do this. Eventually I think I may... but there are a few issues that I have to address.

I can't find a place in the car that doesn't get too hot in the summer, or with the heater on.
I don't know how well a disk drive will do in a car, and solid state is slow.
I'd need to shell out the dough to get a touch screen... I also want to integrate a touch pad into my center console... maybe even the steering wheel.

They make actual "carputers" for a reasonable price, but that's no fun

I say buy an itx mobo and use the metal case GTA4 came in as the case then purchase some sort of small screen and rig it up thru the HDMI port. I saw that in an rx7 with an ITX motherboard they used the glove box as the case. an ITX motherboard is just 6.5" x 6.5" it would be perfect for what you're doing

i would recommend using a non-disk storage device as well, disk drive would be fucked by the everyday bumps and forces the car has.

                    Sold too: Grumpys93, '93CB7Ex, Bunta, prodh22accord, SSMAccord, fleetw00d

Yeah, that's among my list of concerns. Solid state storage kinda sucks though...
