Everyone thinks it has to be below the waist, but the rules are:

1: You never look at the circle. Never. If you do, you get hit.
2: You ESPECIALLY never look at the circle below the waist. (This rule is explained as you hold the circle below the waist - this rule is actually here to trick the new player into looking at the circle, that way you get to punch them.)
3: If you show the circle and it gets pierced or broken, you get hit twice.

Rule 2 exists only so you get to hit your buddy when you explain the rules. You just told him NEVER look at the circle, then you show the circle below the waist and he looks, so you hit him for it. The circle is valid anywhere though.

There's also "ball gazer", which involves holding the circle in front of your junk (if you're a guy) and when they look, you also get to call them ball gazer. Variations are: double ball gazer (both hands), the bouncing double ball gazer (do I need to explain? You bounce up and down on the balls of your feet while performing the double ball gazer. If you catch a guy with this one, you also get to make fun of his stupidity for the rest of the day) and one that I invented just for a buddy of mine, the stargazer, which involves holding the circle up in such a way as to make the other player look at your asshole.
