Apostle Paul said in his the "Repent For the kingdom is at hand" which in other bibles say that Kingdom is at hand also says that the End Is Near. The bible says that we dont know the time, month, or even year. The only way we know that the world is ready to end is then the moon turns to blood. I've seen on several times the moon red but the bible talks about an army rising.

People were saying the world was going to end in 1900. People have always been saying the world is going to end, because people think there has to be a beginning and ending to everything. The world will keep on keeping on long after we are dead.
Time as we mark it by numbers is relative. Our time is only significant to us, and what makes us think we are so important that the world should end at any particular time that we have marked?

the mayans said "the world as we know it will cease to exist", that could

mean anything, for example no oil, without that, our world, as we know it, would change, people just assume everyone is dead........solar flare........polar shift.......you will always see this on tv and hear people theorcize about this, mainly cause people buy into it, it;s good for ratings. prophecies, even bible verses/stories are meant to be interpreted, the way they are interpreted are always going to be different, nostradamus is a great example of that, some say he was a prophet, same say a fraud, his phophecies were generalities, everytime a disaster happened they linked something he said to parts of that disaster, thats how our minds work, if this world would "end" there probably isnt anything we can do to change that, so why worry?

this is just like the global warming bull, yes we have proabably speed that up, but the earth works on cycles, it has been cooling down and heating up since it's existance, people just want to "make a difference" and try to fix something they have no control over.

so long story short.....if this bitch is gonna blow, you can't stop it.
