Today i purchased a set of lowering springs at CNC motorsport and had them install them. I picked up my car about an hour later and drove for maybe 10 minutes before a sheriff pulled me over, he asked why my car was a lil bouncy so i explained that I had new springs, he also gave me the tip of not having tinted tailights and he let me go. Maybe another 10 minutes later entering the mall, another cop stops waits for me, then he follows me into the parking lot, but did not do anything. about 10 minutes later while going home, i get pulled over by a highway patrol claiming that the reason was no front plate, and tinted tailights. then he has me open the hood and writes me up because of an air filter.

damnn bro.that sucks.what he hell does your car being "bouncy"have to do with anything?the taillights i can understand in some states.but bouncy springs and a damn air filter.....wtf?i'd be fucked if i was where you are haha.

Dont do anything without a warrant. Thats what ive always been told. Cops wanted me to open my trunk so they can check the serials on the sub i have. I assured them it was clean, legit, and they wanted to pry it open. I said no way in hell, Give me a warrant, or go along your way. What did he do, he tried to take a prybar to my trunklid. Good thing the supervisor was there, fuckin guy grabbed it from him, and told him to get outta there. Cops nearly tore up my ride for a sub i had in my car, with the purchase info right in my hands. Cops are complete assholes when it comes to modified cars of any type. Honda's seem to attract more attention when they have a fart cannon. Thank god i dont.

Being pulled over isn't what made me mad, its the fact that I did not know of those mods being a problem, and instead of being calm about the situation and informing, the last cop treats me like a criminal and is absolutely rude.

Yeah let's single out an entire profession because of the actions of a few bad apples. There are bad apples in EVERY profession out there. So in your philosophy anyone who has a job is a dick in a dick factory.

Some of it is common sense... If you tint your taillights you are cutting down on the distance that a vehicle behind you has to realize that you are on the brakes.

A car that is overly bouncy is dangerous, whether its a big pickup truck or a little Honda Accord. A bouncy ride, around here anyways, is usaully a sign of cut springs which ARE illegal in some states, because of the danger they pose.

You do not have to open your hood or trunk for the Police, IN MOST STATES, some have different and more strict laws that require you to comply with an open the hood request from an officer.

Your choice of a title for this thread shows your maturity level, and I am sure that lack of maturity is what led the officers that you had contact with to act as they did. If you give the officer respect, he/she will give you the same back.

Best thing you can do to prevent this from happening again is do a little research before modifying your car. Research your local and state law's when it comes to modifying a vehicle. Take your car to a Police station and ask to have it inspected for legality. It's best to do the research ahead of time though, that way you save your time and money by not installing something that is illegal for the jurisdiction that you are in.

EDIT: I am curious what the deal is with this air filter violation. I am not familiar with all of the codes and laws of different jurisdictions when it comes to air filters

Someone once told me years ago - If you don't know if your modifications are legal or not go and find out yourself, dont expect someone to tell you that they are illegal, other than a cop when you get a ticket for them.
