actually the mayan civilzation just vanished with no trace of why or how, they have the most accuate calendars, they have accurately predicted every huge natural disaster, the world works in cycles and everything around the world does also, they mayans knew these cycles and lived accordingly by taking advantage of certain cycles, if you ever hear any christian tv shows many preachers also believe jesus will return around 2012 to, i think the mayans are correct but not that it is the end of the world....read what is said, the end of civilization as we know it, that could mean no more oil which is a huge part of how we live, or that could mean a scientific break through that changes the way we live forever in a good way its is all about interpretations some people just want to whine about the end of the world
