ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

my g/fs del sol has a stock b16a3 in it and i love taking it to vtec just to hear to noise on the crossover but as for a kick i didn't feel it. Lol when it engaged i was like where is the VTEC!!!!!!! feeling. I guess turbotec just got me use to pulling extremely hard. (TURBO is ultimate vtec) Lol But does also changing the Intake manifold make it louder?

Turbo and VTEC are completely different things (I know the members comparing them know that, but others may not).

Just for the record, I wasn't being serious about IABs being "mini-vtak." I know what real VTEC is like. F20B DOHC VTEC is a good example of how fun it can be, and how hard it can kick.

yeah...i dont know why people feel the need to compare the two. They are two very different technologies with all of nothing in common.

Turbo people like to dis VTEC because it doesn't produce the numbers turbos do, but these people are idiots. I should know, I was one of them once.

I think some of you f22a guys need to actually drive a VTEC car...
This is very true. The kick makes all the fun.

But I'm totally against it. When I tune peoples cars..most of them seem to be a little disappointed because that kick is no longer there and it's just smooth all across. Then I have to go explain as to why they felt that kick before and now they didn't.

It's a compromise you have to make. Do you want to have fun..or do you want to be a bit faster? You CAN have both...but it's going to take lots of money and parts.

I don't necessarily feel any kick but my F22 sounds like it has VTEC lol, I've got the h23 TB/Mani w/ a 3" prelude CAI, so its really loud past 4800 rpm's I think that's when the IAB's open up.

You should see a boosted VTEC car sometime.

I agree, the boost will never produce the linearity, responsiveness, or simplicity of an NA setup.

I like the kick of VTEC, but I think I would rather have the 800-900RPM of better powerband honestly.

Plus, you are lucky vs most of the B series, because Honda tuned it more for performance, thus the huge cam change allows you to feel and hear it while having a pretty much ideal crossover point. On H22's they just delayed it, so there is about 800 RPMs where you are losing power, and then suddenly gain it back.

That is pretty much endemic to all B series save the B18C5. They just don't "kick" like most of them. Could be a function of the 111 lb/ft in a relatively heavy car.

When i hit around 3500 at Full throttle, it sounds mean. Sounds like a fully ported and polished built B18 motor... I make people cry.
