ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

The difference in the tons of each vtec engine are the differences between the lo cam profiles vs the hi cam profiles. The more they differ, the greater the sound difference at the cross over will be.
The cam profile changes, which means that the breathing of the engine changes. When VTEC is working most efficiently, it should be neither heard nor felt. The "kick" you feel is just to sell cars. VTEC actually comes in a bit late on the DOHC engines, because people want to feel that kick. It makes the car feel faster (and in actuality, makes it a little slower)
Search VTEC on Google and learn a bit about what it does. You'll understand things a bit better if you take the time to learn.
And for those that felt the need to give worthless replies... grow up.

Thats what they call poppin' vtec. Its a really dumb thing.
If you car is running right you are not suppose to feel the vtec engage its suppose to be a smooth crossover and you are not suppose to feel a sudden surge in power.
And as mentioned, When vtec engages the cam profile changes, when that changes the engine pulls in more air, more air will make more noise. More noise will make you feel faster.

Oh, deev...where would we be without you?
Yes, i/h/e is what gives you a "sound". I was gonna say, my friend used to have just an intake on his 6G coupe and it may be SOHC but when vtec kicked in, you could her it from quite the distance. Ppl often thought he had an exhaust..nope, just an intake.
but x3 on that f22 vtak. That shit kicks hard!

It's pretty much already been explained.
1) If you think your F22 feels like it has VTEC, you have never felt VTEC.
2) I have yet to see a stock B series (other than maybe the Type R) that "kicks" VTEC like an H. The first thing you feel is often the IAB butterflies opening.
3) Louder does not necessarily equal faster.

That's not entirely all true about feeling the vtec, I just got a 2008 accord and when the vtec engages like at 4500, you could feel the power it produces when your in vtec, you do feel that surge of power

obviously, your going to feel that it hasn't lost power.. but still gaining power yes, but you should not feel that jolt of the vtec engaging. Most factory cars aren't tuned for anything other than emissions anyway, so you cannot compare to them.
test drive a NSX and you'll know exzactly what we are talking about.Last edited by KeeleDesign; 04-11-2008, 08:01 AM."Self Renewed"

I don't care how much slower my car is with the "kick". That is what makes it fun to drive.
I think some of you f22a guys need to actually drive a VTEC car...Last edited by Accord R33; 04-11-2008, 08:12 AM.
