ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

That's probably what he means, but you would have to get a different turbine housing I think, one that faces the opposite direction.
If you go the current route facing the alternator yeah I would definitely use some heat wrap, or a blanket, and even then it may be close and touching and possibly shred the wrap and eventually rip the blanket as the engine shifts from on / off throttle. Or you could have pipe ceramic thermal coated. And use some stiffer engine mounts to mitigate engine movement.
I'm sure you will sort it out and it will be fun to drive.

Er, well you could probably just flip the turbo upside down maybe? But then your oil feed and drain lines would be upside down... ? I can't remember if those are specific or interchangeable in terms of feed and drain.
You may have to also loosen the compressor housing and rotate it to however your IC piping is orientated.

well if the turbo was facing the opposite direction there would be direct interference with the compressor housing hitting the alternator. i have it mounted this way because i didnt want to have to move the alternator to begin with. Lol it will work just fine the way it is. plenty of people have run it this way. also facing this way, it will be easier to make room for a cold air intake. i absolutely had already planned to wrap the down pipe and use a turbo blanket for the turbine housing. it will be all good and yall will see a video of it on the dyno in a few weeksLast edited by w3lded; 11-12-2024, 10:58 PM.

Very neat. Really interested to hear how this turns out for you, adding boost has always been a curiosity of mine but not something I would ever do to my 91.
What's your target output and any support mods other than that nice aluminum rad? Wasn't under the impression the F22 could push more than 150-160hp or so.
Also how does the stock fueling and ECU hold up/get tuned, or is that getting changed too?

Target ouput is 400 whp, but id be happy with anything above 300. There are plenty of videos on YT of F22 engines putting out over 500 or even 600 with the right set ups. I am upgrading all supporting mods: bigger fuel pump, injectors, fpr, brakes, and suspension. The stock ECU isnt able to be tuned with hondata or other softwares so I had to source a P28 ECU to add the Hondata s300 chip to allow for tune. Let me know if you have any other questions! Ive been learning about turbo set ups for about 10 years and have had many friends build different turbo builds, and as Im finally able to afford to do it, im finally building my first one! I am SO excited

If you go the window weld method, go slow, fill in a little, then let it dry over night. Once the first application is dry, fill in some more. If you squeeze a bunch in there all at once the stuff in the bottom won't dry.
There's that option.
I remember back in the day there being many nice motor mount upgrades for Hondas, the nice billet machined mounts were a plenty. Probably not so much today...?
