Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

      that is a great looking car! good start!

      how long did it take you to take the seats out? i need to take all that stuff out of my car and wash the carpet. :P

        Not long, probably 30mins, just pop off the plastic covers and 4 bolts per seat. The center console and gear selector took a little more time, but well worth it to clean all the spilled drinks and gunk out of there.

          Some updates:

          - New taillight seals have eliminated 99% of the trunk leak. I say 99% because the bottom back corner of the trunk surround is still ever so damp after a big rain.
          - A/C fixed!!! Only $275 to fix a leak on a valve that's on the compressor and refill with Freeze 12 and it's doing great in the hot GA sun.
          - This past weekend I addressed the oil pooled in the spark plug holes and a valve cover leak, so I followed the DIY thread on replacing the seals. I found that all my valves were about .001 tight, so I left them alone.
          - Also replaced the front torque motor mount, see pic.



          Next up, bleed brakes and oil change so I can check out this drain plug that is supposedly stripped.

            I don't post on many noob threads- but it is evident that you are not a typical noob.
            I see a seriously beautiful ride/AOM potential all over this- if you spend your money right.
            Read some MRT's, it will give you direction.

                I also removed the rusty, nasty exhaust manifold shroud and my twin 9 yr old "helpers" sanded, scraped and painted it with black header paint. Looks great.

                I'm also going to do tint, the greenhouse on these cars is massive, I feel like I'm driving in a fish bowl.

                      Ok well I finally decided to tackle my rusty muffler because I had borrowed a buddy's MIG welder for a separate job on my Mustang. Basically it is starting to unravel, so having a welder and some 22ga sheet metal I figured I'd have a little fun and learn something. If and when these welds fail or more rust appears I'll just go to Rockauto and get a replacement rear exhaust section.

                      WARNING: if you are any kind of a welder you might want to turn away now. This is my first ever attempt at something like this.

                      First some pics of the rust.


                      This is on the bottom middle of the muffler.



                      Here I've cut, shaped and drilled the main piece for spot welding.



                      And the same for the smaller repair.



                      I had noticed a small area of rust and some soot closer to the flange, so I went to grind away the rust to weld up the spot and lo and behold it just broke through and I ended up with an oval golf ball shaped hole. So I made a patch for that and spot welded it up.

                      Hit it with some Rustoleum and mounted it to the car.



                      Heck if it last 6 months or a year, great. It was a lot more fun than buying and installing a new piece.

                      Now I need to get back to tackling the oil leaks on this thing.

                          This is true. What's said is when people apply that same logic to suspension and brakes because they want to spend the money on rear visors or HIDs.

                          For the future I'd start looking into the K-Teller kit for the CB if you had any plans on modifying the car. It's a great stainless kit for a very reasonable amount. Vibrant is a good bet for quality stainless mufflers that can be very quiet. If even that's too much you can have a muffler shop make you a new one and have a '02-'05 Civic Si muffler welded in place. It's slightly better than the one that came on the car but still has the OEM look to it.

                              Ok, some more maintenance items tackled yesterday. Used 100% Honda parts except for the CV boot which was from Napa ($17 vs. $38).
                              • Replace tie rod end boots
                              • Replace lower ball joint boots
                              • Replace driver's side inner axle boot
                              • Replace passenger side p/s rack boot
                              • Replace distributor o-ring (soaked with oil under distributor)
                              • Replace oil cooler o-ring (was leaking like CRAZY onto the exhaust pipe)
                              • Adjust base timing (timing mark was slightly above pointer so I adjusted it to be even, did I retard or advance? EDIT: I retarded it according to this)


                              Thanks to this forum for how-to's on several of these items, along with Eric The Car Guy. A few pics below, meant to take more, oh well.

                                Can't wait until I find new seats so I can clean it that thoroughly.

                                Nice ride man. Any plans for it other than keeping it clean?
