ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Grille

I have started a project! My grille is flaking, apparently the previous owners thought it looked bad, so they fixed it by using electrical tape on the black parts.

    sigh.

I am taking that off, sanding off the paint and smoothing the surfaces and painting the whole thing black (kind of a flat black). The paint is made for high temp areas, so I figures it will be fine sitting in the sun and whatnot.

All of the grill will be black with the emblem in the center. I will update with photos, but I am looking for someone that may have done this before. I was looking at all the aftermarket grilles and .. I didn't like them any more than stock, mine just needs some love.

ive done it before, there is a pic of it in flat black in my members ride thread along with one of it in black and red, i am currently redoing mine as well cause i just painted my car white and the red would go along with that so the grill is gonna be white/black. and to get the paint to stick well make sure your primer the grill and also let it sit for day or 2 before you put it on the car other wise it well start to chip very fast because of the rocks and other debris flying at it while your driving.

No matter what you do, it's still going to chip. I just touch mine up with a permanent marker.

I used Duplicolour Trim paint on it. Give it a good scuff, primer, sealer, colour, clear.

These are the 2 I've done.

It would be nice if i could do this soon. Do you guys think the DIY with the bleach method is a good idea? Seams like sanding might work better.

I didn't sand, bleach, or whatever mine at all. I just cleaned it with water.

It has 1 little chip in the paint on the bottom because I dropped it last time I was taking it off.

I tried sanding once. Won't ever do it again.
I ended up using a razor blade to peel it off, then sanding the plastic where I messed up.
It took forever, but it worked.

Probably the best paint to use would be Krylon Fusion. Made for painting plastic with no prep needed.

Here is all the individual pieces. I painted the outside of the grill, and the insert under honda emblem the same color. The main gutter guard inserts I chromed along with the honda emblem. (Above)

                    The Finished Product (Above)

                    Installed on car (Above)

When it comes time to redo mine, I'm going to add a couple layers of clearcoat so it will last longer.

@cloudasc: Very nice work. Cleaner than most gutter guard grills...but for a reason solely my own, i just don't like it. The only gutter guard grill i can appreciate is one that has the mesh painted black, so it is unnoticeable, and with a floating emblem.

I think the OEM grill painted black looks best..just my personal preference.

I like The black mesh behind the "H."

I'm also not a huge fan of the mesh, but I think the finer the mesh, the better it looks.

yeah with mine i always just paint the pieces of the stock grill and never use mesh i just hate the look of it. the only thing ive taken off of mine is the small vertical plastic pieces on each side of the grill.

that car is nice!! maybe with because its black on black it stands out better with the mesh, how'd you get the emblem out though? mine is a little smaller and looks built into the grill
