ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

post your valve cover paint jobs here!!

i am creating this thread just to see what ppl think and have done to their valve covers ive done a couple valve covers myself there the center of your bay you gotta have em fresh =) haha but heres mine this is the steps i took anyway but if you just wanna post up a pic of ur cover go for it!!!

600 grit wetsand paper was used and the pot had water in it for the paper showing some picks of the sand be4 wiping it down

this was with the residue wiped off looked pretty damn good was considering keeping it this way but i bought the paint already!! haha

chose a white basecoat to lay down wasnt exactly flat but works

forgot to take pics of it when finished lol but i got them while it was on the car! lemme know wat you think its kinda simple but cool i think haha might change it soon but got some parts for my cb7 coming so im focusing on that ha p.s this was my phones camera so the end results arnt really showing up too well guess the camera cant pick up all the lil black and white stone like specks in the paint and yes the paint it textured and rigid haha

Sorry to say it but l think this is gonna flake on ya sooner then later. You should have used an aircraft stripper or something of that sorts to take off all the old paint.

Sanding may have helped some but getting contact on a metal surface would have been much better. Give ya' an A for effort though

well thanks man but its been sticken and im gonna change it out to some normal paint pretty soon tho dude just not worrying bout it rite now when i get a few more goodys for the bay ima redo it seemed like a good idea never really thought of it flaking lol but as long as its not doin it now im good plus i got a few splotching ideas from what ive done in the past (about 20 valve covers) that i wanna try out this was the first time ive used textured paint but me and my bro are always painting em and the one me and him did really good he chose to keep this was about 2 years ago and still looks like we painted it last week haha. but again ive never used textured paint on one so idk if it will flake or not yet its not extremely rigid tho but its a different consistency thats the problem im seeing haha but itll be gone in a few tho im not extremely happy with it haha want a lil more pop and unordinary look but i got a plan.

Yeah, I didn't prep mine at all and it's now a year and a half later starting to peel.

I wanted to retain the original texture though. Like JDM_CB7_TX said, you just need to repaint at some point, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Exactly, painting a valve cover is no biggie at all.If it peels so what, like you said a couple bucks and itll be looking fresh again, plus, you get more practice! The texture you added is different.Looks cool, welcome to the site bro!
