Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Finally chipped my P06, what do ya think?

    Finally got around to chipping my P06, what do ya think of my solder job (please criticize, I can take it!)? Personally I was pleased with how it turned out.





    Now to find a Moats Demon board for cheap...

      What is the plug in the lower left corner for. It looks like a USB expansion port on a motherboard lol.

          That would be the a data logging header. Very important part when doing this stuffs.

            Nice...you got better soldering skills then i have..lol I tell ya soldering wires together and soldering on a circuit board are two completely different things..lmao
            I too chipped a PO6 and converted it to manual and my soldering on that was horrible but hey how else are you going to learn?

              I'd say you did a great job with your soldering, looks great! I have a couple ecu's modded to accept customs chips for custom tuning, great stuff

                Exactly! Get a ECU, a soldering iron and just have at it!
                The thing I need to work on better is desoldering but that might just be a limiting factor of my super cheap iron I bought form Parts Express just not getting hot enough to get the solder melted and wicked up.

                Thanks. And yes this is some great stuff, just had a ball doing it yesterday. Wish I had more to do today...

                A quick tip, when doing it keep this image in your mind as what NOT to do:




                I remember seeing these on Honda Tech years ago and was appalled that someone paid money for someone to do that.

                    MRX would be proud.

                    When he chipped my ECU, he was incredibly anal about making each connection absolutely perfect.

                    What did you use to remove the old solder?

                      Being anal is a good thing. It may take longer to do some things but it is totally worth it.

                      I used Tech Spray's desoldering wick. Used it many times before with good results, but I think my soldering iron was just not hot enough to wick it up the first try, so I added a bit of solder to each point then wicked it back up.

                        I used desoldering braid from radioshack.I not sure if you guys would recommend that but it worked out great for me.

                          Yep, that's pretty much the same exact stuff I use/used.
