ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

there's polishing the plasticized urethane (which is the clearcoat on the wheel), and then there's removing that clearcoat and polishing the metal underneath.

you can use mother's mag & aluminum polish on both surfaces.

for polishing the clearcoat, sanding isn't needed. don't treat the mag polish like wax, remember it's abrasive, so the more you rub the more shine you get.

for polishing the metal, sanding is needed for a mirror look because you have to remove the lines on the face of the wheel that make up the machined finish. of course you can leave the lines and just buff a shine as another option. later.

On mine I sanded down the clear, and polished the metal underneath. I had to sand it down because the clear was starting to chip, and it looked bad, but if you clear looks ok, then i would not suggest to sand it off, because it took me about 2 hours each wheel!!

Yes, most scratches are in the clear cote, but some curb rash is so deep that you might need to fill it with either a fine filling bondo, or a weld stick. in both cases you have to sand the clear all the way down. So what I would recommend is getting a 3M 220 sand paper pack, and a 3M wet/dry variety pack. First use the 220 dry to sand the clear all the way down. This takes about an hour each rim. after this has been done you will be able to tell how deep the curb rash is,and you can decide what route you want to take.If you decide that the curb rash does not need to be filled in, then you can work your way up the variety pack, i would recommend only wetting the sandpaper at 1000 and above. If you decide to fill in the curb rash you will need to paint your wheel after you have filled in the curb rash, i believe that duplicolor sells different color wheel paint. Hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to ask!!!

nope i did not but i did sand down the clearcoat with a high grit process getting all the dirt and oxidation film off of the clearcoat leaving a thin layer of clearcoat. when you remove that polyurethane coat the wheels tend to need more attention then when you leave it on there.... the coat allows for easy cleaning and more polishing if needed in the future

i agree and not going against anything your saying but, not wetsanding the urethane coat on the wheel will just cause all of that nasty mess to come back and be more visible then sanding it where it comes back in due time if not taken care of....

what process would you recomend type-g for the SE wheels i'm getting?? i want them looking like what??!! but at the same time i dont want a " holy shit your blinding me!!! damn i just crashed!!!" shine....lol
