Just got it today. Bought it off ebay 75 shipped. It was made in 03, pretty old, but I heard it has a nice pack of functions.

Any thoughts wanna share?

my friend has the headunit and it has been one of the best he has ever used..plus you can tune your whole system and make it sound real nice.

I have a 6600 that I bought at the end of 04, still works perfectly fine and has been fantastic. yeah, the shipping kinda killed the price, i won the bid at 60, the shipping was 15. I'm going to install it this week end and see how it comes out.

p.s. My shift boot is really hard to take off, I remember I have to separate the boot with knob first, then remove knob and center console.

i had that HU...then got it stolen I love Pioneers. Im not the biggest fan of their looks but their sound and the ability to tune the sound to your exact liking makes up for it.

I've got the DEH_P6800MP and I love it. I've always been a fan of Pioneer. Not sure about the 5500, but it can't be bad if it works.

..the new pioneers have usb now that does ipod as well....the old one with the pioneer adapter for ipod sucks.

you dont have to take your center console apart. i keep telling people this over and over, that is a waste of time.

get a flashlight and crawl in your kick panel with a socket wrench and a deep 8mm.

look for the back of your stereo, under it you will see an 8mm/phillips screw. dont bother with the phillips, you will just strip it. it takes a little bit of effort but much more efficient than taking your whole center console apart. i keep posting this tip in almost every thread i come across.

i can do decks in these cars in about 15-20min w/o prewiring the harness.

with a pre-wired harness and prepped kit, or a 2nd person i can get one of these done in about 10 minutes.

I have that deck. Right now it's not in my car (replaced by a cheap DVD player...) I miss it!

My only complaint is that the random feature for MP3s when dealing with multiple folders will cycle through the folders in order... so it's not really a surprise once you know your folder order. Not a bad thing, really... but I like total random! At least it's better than what I have now... I'll get the same song 3 out of 5 times when I have over 100 songs on the CD!

Just Installed it a while ago forgot to update, it works very well, sounds amazing even with my 17 year old speakers, and fixed my 3 speakers going in/out problem...(waiting for my ebayed infinity 5002 reference front).

only problem I'm getting so far is that even when I'm using the CD, the auto antenna comes up and stays up. is it my wiring fault or HU setting? Plz help

could be your wiring, could be the deck, could even be a busted antenna (although highly unlikely).

check your wiring on the back of the deck, there should be 2 blue wires. one solid blue, one blue/white. solid blue is your power antenna which should only have power when radio is on. the blue/white is your remote turn on wire for turning on additional accessories (amps mostly) when your deck has power.

if its like low-end kenwoods (205 & 235). the blue wire doesnt even have power and thats how it has to be wired. the dual screen i have in my car makes the antenna stay up when the deck is on. which in turn caused my antenna to break from going up and down so much.

I wouldnt have a clue at what would cause that problem, but I know personaly Pioneer decks are one of the best ones you can buy out there. I got my DEH-6600 in 2004 and it still works great till this day, evan without the volume knob, I guess thats what the remote is for lol.
