alpine, pioneer, an eclipse are basicly top brand for me on decks. JVC, kenwood, panasonic, and the rest are shitty. BUt if you're on a budget then i guess cheap ones are the one.

I wouldnt say that...My sisters boyfriend has had a Kenwood in his civic for the last 4 years and hes had no problems....My other sisters boyfriend has a JVC in his truck and its been working fine for the last 2.5 years....Not to mention the fact that 90% of the people i know have the "shitty" brands youve mentioned and I would say 90% of that group have no complaints.

Plus before I got my Clarion headunit I had an ooooold school sony that worked flawlessly.

Do you have the bracket on the stereo?Thats the metal piece that holds the stereo in place. Usually if the stereo is not in tightly it will shake and turn off and on. I had the same problem.You should also make sure all your cennections are tight and not loose.

a shit deck to me maybe a badass cool deck to someone else.

take for instance the dual brand at best buy, i hate dual, i do have a dual screen in my car, but thats only for the screen.. anyways

i think jvc, sony, dual, insignia, are crap also.

kenwoods are great decks, looks, interface and sound quality, but have common issues like cd ejecting problems.

pioneers are cool and sound great, i just dislike the interface

alpines in my book but maybe a lil bit difficult to use for some people.

Yeah if i would recommend a deck for the long run, i'd say Alpine. So far its been rock solid and is much quicker to recognize the type of CD I have in there ie MP3 or whatever. Also when ejecting the disks, the alpine unit seems to be a lot quicker and there's less delay compared to my old JVC. Although I kinda miss some of the features i had such as a motorized faceplate and the graphics. During start-up, on my old JVC i had an animation of pistons pumping in an engine and it looked pretty sweet. But for the price of 205 for the alpine, you can't go wrong.

Is there any way i can get a remote for it though? my old JVC had one that came w/ it but the alpine didn't

GOOD NEWS! I got a Brand New Alpine deck for free w/ ANOTHER 4yr warranty. Well, since i bought my JVC back in 04' for $234.99, the new Alpine (CDA-9883) was 204.99 so i got the 29.99 warranty on it and i'm set til 2011, lol. I went in there, had the guy pull it out and went to the geek squad section and the guy sent it away. A week later, I called and they said it was too old to fix, so they let me pick out a new deck within the 235 dollar price i paid. All within a period of a week....SWEET. New deck sounds A LOT louder, clearer, more bass and has IPOD connectivity. aight here's some piktars:

DONT CHECK THE WIREING!!! take it to best buy and have them figure it out, if you start going through it that will void your warranty and they will tell you to have fun and go away, best buy likes to do that kinda thing...ive been an installer there for 2 years

yea if it has warranty, let them deal with the problem and if it doesnt work you can get a new one......
