ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

in other words "ppl should buy that stuff from home depot" if they want something that will sort of do what Dynamat, eDead and the other sound deadening products are designed to do........

its a cheap and not as effective alternative to something that will work very well....

dude i have no experience with the home depot stuff, hence why I said 'I guess...' I'll vouch for the elementaldesigns.com edead all day b.c I know it but I don't know how that stuff works.

Just b/c something is 'cheaper' doesn't mean it's less effective, I have two maybe 1sq ft edead pcs on my trunk and that's it, with the 'great stuff' foam in the framing of the trunk lid, plus some edead behind the license plate wherever it makes contact with the trunk, and I have 2-5% rattle if it's way up and on a song that hits it just right. In other words as little rattle as you can get. You could literally take pure asphalt and coat your whole trunk with it, and I will bet you it'll sound as good or even better than anything else out there. You could take an old mattress egg carton style foam to kill the higher pitched noises and voila you have a ghetto but just as effective solution, but not pretty and probably not light either. As for 'designed' for audio specific, I'd bet some ghetto solutions we could come up with on our own could be better than these 'designs', as we all know that some companies could care less if their stuff actually lasts and works very well. Just like we put turbo's on these cars from mitsubishi's, we can put rubber matting that was made for flooring and you might get something that works perfectly well for much less. I can pay $3K for an 'accord' turbo kit, or I can peice my own similar dsm kit for 1/3 that. It's car modding, there is no 'right' or 'wrong' that's what makes it all fun! I love what I have, and I'll share the knowledge, but at the same time I like being able to point sometimes at what I have and how well it works and have ppl admiring something that's original.

Just ideas, pick any you personally like.

Actually most companies do not have the asphalt based sound deadeners anymore. They haven't for a few years. The asphalt based deadeners worked by adding weight to the panel. The more something weighs, the more energy is needed to make it move. Most companies use a viscoelastic material now. This material actually changes the vibrations to a low level heat. (You cannot feel the heat) Works great and does not add near the weight.

look near the last page on that link price wise, edead is even cheaper now, plus it's not asphalt, aka it won't fall off, there's a reason why I use it.

and btw if anyone gets some use the coupon code : edeadba -you'll get another 20% off! really can't be beat.

only dozens of cb7tuners have been doing this... most of the small to medium turbo builds on here use dsm setups. look in the forced induction thread. I've seen half a dozen locally myself not to mention all the ones on here.
