ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Help with my sub

Ok well I have aquired a sony xplode sub from my cousin, and it has a MTX amp mounted on the box. I'm not too sure how i'm sopose to wire it up. I have the stock Honda Radio and probably will for some time. All I know so far is that I need a line from the battery which i do not want to do because the AMP will drain the battery down and I don't want to deal with a switch. What power cable should I go for that will allow the sub to shut off(or have no power to it) when the car is off. And will I have to use some special cables for the power cables? or will some speaker wires suffice? ( I think not?) Then I do know for the negitive i just screw the wire to the body and thats that.

Then the second part is since I have the stock head unit, where would i get the sound from, I was thinking of tapping off the rear speakers? Would that work?

Sorry I have no pictures but I hope I didn't confoose you all too badly lol
    wat?

run a good guage wire from the battery + side to power the amp.
run a remote wire to the auto antenna wire or to the radio fuse on the fuse box.
get a line level converter to get the signal changed over for your low level (rca) inputs on your amp.
ground it good. bare metal. youre rockin bub.

The AMP has a fuse on it, if that means anything.

no matter what you will have to connect the amp to the battery if you want music... there shouldnt be any really bad drainage since you only have the music up for a certain time...

you still need an inline fuse.... (in your power line not more then 20" from the battery)

                          My contribution for the day....

just run the RCA's and remote down one side of the car and the power on the other side and you wont run into the problem of humming while accelerating. any more questions?

anyone see anything that i left out post it of course.

Might wanna read these for some more information:

                            Crutchfield Amp Install Guide

                            Little more in depth

What everyone said already was completely correct, just wanna reiterate/give my two cents

-Mentioned before, you MUST put a fuse on the wire from the battery to your amp, and it must be within 18" of the battery. Some people also put a fuse on ground wire too.
-The wiring diagram OnBBS17s posted is perfect. However, because you have a stock HU, you won't have RCA's running from the back of the HU. You'll need the "High to low signal adapter" someone posted it above. That taps into the stock speaker wires, and then you run RCAs from THAT to the amp.
-Also, you wont have any drainage when the car is off because the blue "remote" wire tells the amp when it should be on or off. Since it is connected to something already switched, your amp will only be on when your car is.
