    Recommendation for component speakers

I'm looking to upgrade my speakers in the future, and decided to do a little research now. After reading through some threads, and not really finding an answer. I decided to ask you guys what you would recommend for me. I don't have a set budget yet because I don't know what to expect, but I don't plan on killing my wallet over speakers.

My current setup is an alpine headunit with alpine front and rear speakers, a 12" sub, and an amp. At first this setup sounded fine to me until I added the sub. The sub was overpowering and according to my buddy I lack midbass and should consider getting component speakers and an amp.

So my question is what should I look for when choosing components and what do you guys run?

You are an Alpine guy, stick with Alpine components. Pick up a set of Type R components. If you go for an amp for your speakers just pick something from these and you'll be happy. I've heard their digital amps and I must say they are worth the money.

Well the reason for the alpine headunit and speakers are because I got a good deal on it. The sub is a DIY mobile audio 12", and the amp is a Directed A802 2 channel amp.

that's what I have. and with a jl13w6 bumping pretty loud, the mid and highs are great with infinity components. kind of expensive but very crisp and clear.

which infinity components do you have? I'll be looking into both infinity's and JL's.

the infinity tweeters on the front, front 6.5 lightning audio, rears the infinity 2 way with the rotating tweeters. I am using an amp to run my mids and highs though. I got a clarion 400 watt 4 channel amp sitting around collecting dust if you're interested. I would get an amp to use it on your alpine components first as posted above. you will hear a big difference. try that first before buying another set of components.

Right now I have regular coaxials, and I'm looking to upgrade to components. I plan on just running a nice set in the front and ditching the rear speakers.

Thanks for the offer on the amp, but I already have some stuff sitting around collecting dust.

kool. if you do have amps sitting around, even if you do decide to buy better components, I recommend you hook them up to an amp. It will sound a lot cleaner and louder.

What he said! I wouldn't waste money right away by buying 2 sets of components when you already have aftermarket speakers in. Definitely get say a 200-300watt amp and power the mids. It would make a world of a difference. Then you can decide if you want to upgrade to components up front.

I would go to a good shop and let them know that you plan to upgrade to components in the future. They should be willing to go easy on you with not charging a lot when ready to install the components.

                              memphis if its available

Whats good. Im a car audio guru. For a nice set of affordable components go with memphis. They have a great, rich sound. Not as good as some Diamond Audio Hex but they will do the job. In Greenville, NC memphis car audio runs it. I can think of the model numbers but the have 6 1\2 with tweeters that you can mount in your door. Also hide away crossovers that look great. If you have the $$$ the Alpines mentioned earlier are great, but still not Diamond. Just my 2 cents
