ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

1: it all depends on wether or not you are wanting to keep the same voltage and increase the amps while extending the life of the bats then pos+pos and neg+neg is correct
2: but on the other hand if you are wanting overal more volts and amps then pos+neg pos+neg

DON'T PUT TWO 12 VOLT BATTERIES IN SERIES(pic #2)!!!! YIKES!!!!
Why did anyone suggest that? Do you want him to fry his car?
I understand if he's using two six volt batteries, but that's not what I think he wants to do.
But yeah, in parallel (pos to pos and neg to neg) will work. Not optimum, but it'll work. Though it is more weight and more load on the alternator. If you need more power while the engine is running (meaning the alternator can't keep up) then get a higher output alternator.

Is a second battery really necessary? I mean can't you just use a capacitor? I dont know your setup, but it must be banging if you need two batteries

Oh, OK. That's how it looked to me, so I wanted to be sure he didn't blow himself up or something, ya know.

to use 2 batteries you are gonna need battery-isolators. They are used to keep your alt from overloading and to keep both batteries at full charge. If you run them parallel then your gonna have to half charge batteries and one will die. If you run them in series your telling your alt to charge at atleast 24 volts which will cause a fire. Buy a isolator or goto your local JY, look for all f-250's with a dual battery setup and take the isolator from that. You will wire it just the same but I would recommend moving both batteries to the rear of the car. I did this in my prelude when I owned one a while back. The second thing your gonna need to do is run new grounds throughout your car. Keeping the grounding resistance as low to 0 as you can.The true plus to doing this is that you can run your audio to death and still have a one battery capable of jumping your car. Good time to get one blue top and one yellow top. I ran two yellows when I did this and people thought I was dumb.

I ran 2 (blue)Tarantula SoundStream 1000x2 amps. Pushing 2 12" Fubur 2400watt DVC 1 ohm speakers along with Kicker 400watt 4 channel along with the Audio Control (epic) bass knob. Turning up the bass in this car would just shut the car off. The second battery always had a charge to start the car again. Having the dual battery was needed since the cost of a cap and getting a custom built Hi-amp alt was out of the question. This is a cheaper route but you must know what your doing and take your time doing it.
People most do this in trucks but seldomly they do this is cars. More so now since most cars are electric and cant take a surge like the good ole

One last thing you want the isolator to be as close to the alt as possible. It doesnt matter where the batteries are the isolator and then your Fuse Switch.Regular 60,80amp even 100 fuses dont work. They allow to many surges before they pop and prolly did the damage they are suppose to avoid before they pop
