ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

DIY Put bigger door panel speakers!!

well i was really bored so i figured i would put a better system in my car so here is how you put bigger speakers Alpine Type-R (outside diameter 6.5", mounting diameter 5.75", depth 2.75") in the placement of the stock one's CB7's come with..

    Tools you will need:

1:Take your door panels off...3 screws and 1-2 unplugs then pop it off

2:you will see a plastic piece behind your speakers...take out 3 screws maybe 4.. then take off and unplug speaker wires...etc

    3:Take the stock speaker out!!

4:Take the new speakers and mark the diameter with the sharpie...

5:Take the blow dryer and heat the plastic up for like 1 min....

6:Now start cutting plastic away... cut the bottom plastic and around the trim...till they fit in the stock speaker holder.. then screw them in with screws and the screwdriver.

7: put it back in the car folowing the steps backwords^^ and this is how it should look..

Now these speakers come with tweeters i will post up new pic's on how to install them soon.....thanx

Looks good You may want to pick up some speaker baffles in case an rain gets down through the window area. Don't want to damage those type-r's (Oh yeah, the first 3 picks no worko)

oooooooor you could have just remove teh whole black peice, cut out a peice of mdf in a speaker ring or buy a plastic speaker spacer from best buy or most ne stereo shop and just put it in the stock spot withoutmodifying... thats what i did for my alpine type r components

^That sounds a lot better looking.^ But meh, whatever works for ya.
+1 for getting your hands dirty and posting it.

My LX uses 6.5" speakers stock, so no need cut anything. Just coat the door panel with spray rubber/bed liner

When I installed my 5.25's in the door I just enlarged the pods and placed them in there where they would seal up fairly tight to get a little more bass response. Did you do the same? Does anyone know if that is a good idea or a semi-crummy one? Cuz the aftermarket speakers weren't designed for the enclosure like the stock ones.

they should be 100% sealed all the way around and they will always sound much better mounted to wood than they would mounted to plastic or metal.

Your still better off using mdf over platsic. And the trim rings are super easy to make as long as you can use a jig saw.
