I know absolutely NOTHING about car audio systems, so I'm looking for some advice on what I should be looking for if I'm thinking about upgrading speakers and everything in my car. Any information or advice would be appreciated, thanks.

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

well if you have an ipod i suggest keeping your stock deck if you have the cassette deck, there are adapters for that that allow you to play your ipod on it, and the adapter cost like ten bucks as opposed to sixty for a cd player kit.
Anyway speakers... If you would rather not have subs in your trunk i suggest using Polk speakers, i had Momos in my 91 accord dx sedan and it worked out really well. Polk puts out bass pretty good in my opinion. Although if you want to get a CD player as well i suggest an alpine with a aux in for your ipod.
You can get a 4 channel amp for your speakers if you want it louder and more heavy bass response with clarity.
there are so many diff ways to go, what are you looking to do?

it depens on your liking but if you want good cualiti music go with an alpine head unit porbably try polk front and back and for that little extra bass 2 10" kikers Comp VR (CVR's) with a 400 watts (RMS) amp and that should do it.
Now in the other hand if ur like me and like to pound crazy then you do this....
nice alpine touch screen flip out cd/dvd
pioneer front and back 5.6 front and 6X9 on the back
then in the trunk you can have 3 12" CVRs and a 1 ohm stable amp with @1300 watts
