ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Aftermarket Radio Problems

My Pioneer deck has been acting up recently. The radio will turn on and off and reset all by itself...seems like i have a wiring problem, that or the deck is messed up. It happens all by itself. Just turns on and off whenever it feels like it.

    Anyone else have this problem?

I have an alpine in the GF's ride i'll probably switch over to mine just to see if it continues to do the same thing...

I had that problem in my last 2 radio setups. I blame it on my wiring job. I simply twisted wires and then taped the joints. It seemed plenty sturdy, but soon after it would act up. This time I took my time and soldered every joint, wrapped nicely in electrical tape, and kept together in a cohesive manner.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Haha..yeah i got lazy on the wiring job too...i mixed up a bit of both linking them with the right size gauge connectors..then some just twisted lol.

I'll redo all the wiring too tomorrow just to make sure its all done correctly

Since I had one of those wiring kits from circuit city, I could take the whole assembly inside and solder in peace. Makes it much easier than trying to do anything like that in the car. If I had to do it all in the car, I'd prob just twist and tape again....might be why I did it in the past so often!

Well it isnt the wiring i've done...goes alot further then this...I'm getting power to my speaker wires which is not right at all...anyone else have this problem?

Also, the power door locks have been acting up lately too. It'll buzz when i hit the lock or unlock tab and when i push the tab down manually too. I already switched out the modulator for the PW switch and the problem still persists...

          Anyone?

Could be the deck but it's most likely it is a wiring issue.

Check the polarity of the speaker wires- make sure that the positive is going to the positive and negative is going to the negative- sounds silly but people mess that up a lot more often than you think.

As far as splicing wires, Never just twist and wrap the wires- always use a butt connector to crimp the wires together. Electrical Tape becomes ineffective when there's heat, it will just "slide off".

The power door locks may be a grounding issue. Check your groudn (black wires) And connections. It is unlikely to be related to your radio issue-unless there is just a bad grounding issue overall.

Hey i got the same problem too, my radio would turn off and on when i use the sunroof or wipers. When the radios disconnected i hav no problem, i'm guessing it the radio cause my wiring harness was soldered so that shouldn't be the problem, could be the ground wire. hope u got better luck then me.

I've got this same exact problem. it's as though there just isn't enough current in the circuit. also the problem seem to occur more often when it's hot out. I have yet to check the ground however it seems to be a likely source of the problem
