sony xplode or pioneer?

well, IMO sony xplod is trash. i have a friend with an xplod head unit, and its just trash...plus the speakers do not sound good to me (also Xplod). I say if you got the money, try to get some MTX speakers, or Audiobahn. i have friends with MTX subs, and they hit so friggin hard...its sexy soundin...lol. his subs can suck the air out of the car.

thanks guys i'm goin with sony but the amp isn't gonna be sony my brother melted his (literally melted it) i'm gonna go with pioneer amp. Does that sound good for a 14 year old's first sound system i just want something people well hear coming and know it's me then i will upgrade as i go

sony xplods have alot of bass and pioneer have good highs and okay bass more features though.

ive said befor to other people i do like my xplods, they are decent for paying $50 for both(6.5 rears), and i can tell u they shake my car when i have it up loud

I have both in my EX. Xplod 3-way 6x9 components in the rear and Pioneer 6.5 3-ways in the doors run off an older Sony HU that makes for a nice basic system. It sounds very good together. My brother adjusted the settings one day when he had my car and I honestly thought he had installed a sub in my car as the sounds were so perfectly tuned with the highs and mids crisp from the front (tweets on the doors are perfectly placed) and a pleasant kick from the 6x9s on the rear deck. I actually stopped the car to look in the trunk for a sub. None to be found.

I can understand the concept of wanting a matching system but I believe you should get what works best for your ears and budget even if it means mixing and matching.

Well i dunno about you..but i would rather save up and get a Alpine H/U..i mean their worth it..the sound quality is killer..!!..plus..i mean c'mon..it's Alpine..i just got my Alpine 9851 stolen, and i got a new deck it's the 9885 and that shit is sweet..graphics..bluetooth enabled..calendar..it changes color..that shit is sweet and i got it for $220..but i like Alpine..even the speakers..i have type R's 6.5 in the front and man..they where worth the price i paid for..they kick ass!!..

I also had my alpine 9851 stolen but I bought it again becuase it is the best head unit I ever had. I would go with the xplods which I also have the P5 red ten inch with an infinity amp. Really good system.

Sony has only got 2 good things:

1. Playstation

2. My MD/player because it´s the only thing from sony that´s still alive in my house!


So I would say, Pioneer is definitely better!

If you are looking for a good entry level system then i would take your time and look around.

How much money are you planning on spending?
If i had to pick an entry level system i would choose.

I have a panasonic CQ-C8303U H/U, pioneer front & fitted 6x9 back (put them under) with a sony xplode 1200W 2ch amp with a JL Audio subwoffer.

and i could say i hate the panasonic H/u
and i'm just about ready to get rid of all 4 pioneer's

Sound Quality

Everyone makes such a big deal about decks, which ones better, this that, riff raff. I've never really encountered a deck that can produce the exact sound characteristics I like in my music, remember our cars aren't the best soundstage in the world. If your really that concerned about audio quality, find a deck that offers an actual equalizer, not sound modes like rock/pop/jazz, not just bass or treble, etc. That way you can tune your music to the exact acoustic charactaristics of your car, and the way you like.

Also if your front and rear speakers aren't designed to handle frequency's as low as 20hz, then you should invest in a deck that also offers crossovers, that way your speakers aren't trying to play notes their not designed to, and thus offers a clearer, crisper sound image.

So in conclusion you have crossovers to prevent speakers from playing frequencies they can't handle, and an equalizer to adjust the soundstage to better suit your car, the combination of these two things, along with speakers designed to handle frequencies as low as 20hz (subs) to 20khz (tweets), all of your sound quality problems will disapear, next to any rattles from loose parts on your car.

Well to start off, the H/U is very fragile its not good quality. Second the H/U acts funny all the time, like when i turn on my car the display doesn't show
the music plays and you could use the menu but no display, then it comes and goes on/off, i hate it, sometime it wont play mp3's it just sucks and i cant wait to change it.

Sony Xplod... I have had mine since a week after I got my CB, back in 2001. No complaints here. They may not be the top of the line stuff, but the quality is WAY better then the price leads you to believe... My sister had all Pioneer in her car, thinking that becuase it was more expensive then my setup it would sound better..... WRONG. Both setups have are equally powered, and only include the Headunit, and 4, 3-way 6.5" speakers. Mine is much more powerfull then her's and her's is 3 years newer then mine.. Later
