ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

go demo ur choices. there is prob alot of kicker and jl fan on here and to be honest u can get more for your money when u look into other brands such as Digital Designs RE ID FI Focal Alpines treo Adire Eclipse Cerwin Vega just to name a few. and which setup sounds better its all on what u are lookin for. build ur own box do it properly and do it ported if the room permits.

*2, RE has some amazing stuff as well as DD, you just gotta learn what brands are good, go out to some meets or a few stores and just listen around.
BTW, you may want to give some more info, like whether SPL or SQL is more important, type of music, ect.

RE doesn't exist anymore...they were bought out by US amps..
trust me..we bought 2 of the last 5 RE RE's

also..all of those are ported..not a good idea if you want SQ. the response will sounds "fuzzy" and not crisp and clear.
get a sealed box, and use poly-fill stuffing.

DAMN U COULDNT BE MORE WRONG. RE is still there but they were bought out by US amps. but they are very well still there. ported is perfect if u want SQ ur nuts and probly can build a box to spec. to there are plenty of SQ compers that run ported. sealed is a waste of good speakers and good wood. u lose output and efficiency. remember in car audio heat is bad and sealed boxs cause alot of that. im not trying to be an ass but im just stating facts.

now to the guy with 2 15's u must be running sealed. unless ur in a wagon. because i dont have the room to fit a average ported box for 2 15's in a cb7 trunk.

or he could run them infinite baffle and use the whole trunk for a box. Not an ideal setup, but not too bad if set up right

Sealed boxes have their place, as do ported. Once upon a time, it was desired to have those inefficient sealed subs so you could run more power(and subsequently bump you into a higher power class with typically less competitors). There is also a certain tightness to the sealed that is missing in most ported designs(due to their narrow bandwidth). Sealed is simple, fast, fun, and easy....lol. Ported, well you better bring your lunch, and probably an eq. Sealed has a much more linear response, and theres not a chance of the ports huffing(huge pet peeve). Granted a well designed(using t/s parameters) ported box will play alot louder and lower...usually.

Whatever you do.....get the specs on the subs, a decent box program, and start pluggin in numbers. This will get you close, the rest is manual tuning for the car.....or just build a sealed box(you can still tune it by adding blocks to the inside to adjust volume). BTW-- I'm currently working on a 6th order triple chamber with the rear ports firing into the common chamber(bose patent), so yeah i like ported too......just alot more work
