ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Coaxials are trash. Get components. You get more excursion("SPL") and more control of your sound imaging (SQ). And I would definitely recommend 6x9s over 6.5s, especially since you already have the 6x9 pods and 6x9s basically have the footprint of an 8". I'm almost certain they move about the same amount of air for a given displacement.

Well I was going for good 6x9 in the back, I got 2 way ones, they are awesome, but they only reach 20khz in the high frequency, So I wanted to get components for the front to reach at least 25khz or more for a broader frequency range, since bass signals are unidirectional, It doesnt really matter I guess. If the 6.5 ones reach Higher frequencies, I guess imo ill be fine, what do you guys think?
on gas pedal, IMHO my ride looks awesome altough its 100% stock, its cleanliness and its frost white color are the only mods I need....

Sounds good to me, the approximate range of freq. for human hearing is:

          20 Hz - 20,000 Hz

Yeah but you can easily tell the difference of tweeters which can extend to 25kHz or above.
For the low-end extension, I don't even expect my two JL 10W7s to reach 20Hz...

I don't think so.... 10" subs, 20 hz? Na. But 10s are my weapons of choice, I've got one I just need one more and a good sub amp. Sometime down the road perhaps. Sounds good now anyhow.....

I should have followed with IMO...the imaging is terrible and the excursion is limited. Most of them aren't even x-over'd. The only good things about them are that they're cheap and possibly better than your stock speakers. Seriously. And as far as 6x9s you shouldn't even have anything back there over 100Hz unless you don't care at all about imaging.

Nothing over 100 hz, ya.... the rear glass does help with imaging a bit. Than what DO you suggest for "proper imaging" in the rear of a CB? Pods? Door mounted seperates? Please elaborate....

Crossovers control the output frequency of a given speaker. Input goes into the crossover, then out to a high/mid/low (depending on the crossover). Thus allowing you to send only highs to your tweets, etc.

I don't think there exists a "proper imaging" in the rear of a cb, or any other car...
The image/stage should be located in the front of the listener, no matter he sits in the front or the rear.
Check the IASCA competitors' setups, most SQ systems have no rear speakers!

LOL why are you so sensitive, it's just a discussion.

Anyways there should be no such thing as a rear stage...the rear is for bass. I think you can put speakers in the rear doors without interfering with the front seat soundstage; but as far as the rear deck it's a no-no. You can't place the sound.

As far as the front...whatever's clever. My setup has mids in the stock location with tweets right by the door handles. Eventually though I plan to get some beefier mids and get a 3" midrange to put on the other side of the door handles. Should be a hoot!

What is the difference between a composite speaker setup and a coaxial?

Composite...wait no it's component, component speakers have the tweeter, crossover and speaker all completely separate. Coaxials have them all along the same center. Like I said, coaxials are limited because the tweeters shoot at your feet, and with the tweeters the woofer has a smaller range of motion (less bass)...

maroonaccord2.2...at SQ competitions I don't think anyone ever uses full-range rear speakers.

Hey, that's fine. Everyone is ranting about IASCA and the "proper" way to stage and image audio..... I don't care. The thread is about subs. I am completely happy with my system, and I will never not have a sub.
