ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Trouble hooking up radio.

Ok, I'll try to make this understandable. When I bought my car it did not have a radio, So I got a radio and when I hooked it up but this is my problem: When I connect it dircetly to the power wires(bypassing the ignition) it works, but If I connect it the way it is supossed to be I get no power. So I am assuming that the ignition wire is disconnected/damaged or my ignition is having problems. Any ideas on how I could test it or fix it. I could just pull it apart and see what I can find, but I'm no electrician(but I need to learn)and don't want to mess things up worse.

get a digital multimeter or at least a test light and see if you have 12volt power at the yellow wire with red stripe with the key in the on position. if not check the fuses, remember there are 2 for the radio.

you may have to run a new wire for the radio remote wire, i had two because the previous owner tried to hard wire one in and shorter it out

ok well u need to make sure your ignition has a good ground and make sure u have a power supply. You may be able to wire it up to ur ecu or a light that is wired to your ecu such as a interior light b/c they are always hot.

Sounds like a blown fuse since the cigarrette lighter isnt working either.

                    still won't work!

Ok, my 7.5 radio fuse under the hood is good, but my 10 amp radio/power antenna fuse in side the car was blown. So I replaced the 10 amp fuse and hooked up my radio. When I connected it I heard a clicking sound and the fuse blew, and when ever I touch a new fuse into the box I hear the same clicking sound. It sounds as if its coming from right under the steering wheel.

You mught have a short in the wire, when/if it blows again check to see if that wire is now a ground.

I had the same problem with my radio, and I ran a new fused power wire from the battery, a new ground, and also a new ignition wire off of the windshield wire fuse. My radio only works in the on position now, but it works.
