ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    different instrument cluster in cb7???

Hey guys, i havent been on this site for a while because of my car, (trying to figure out my cluster problem) well my cluster is burned out. Now my question is, if i put a cluster from a cb9 (140 on speedo) will it be acurate when i am driving or will the miles be off?

I wanna say it would be accurate because i think the wheel base and all that is the same from wagon to coupe to sedan.

    I think

    C-3PO's MRT USDM yo!

then i see my baby, suddenly I'm not crazy,
It all makes sense when i look into her eyes

It'll be off by a little bit but you can recalibrate it. I know if you're doing 60mph the car is really doing 53-57mph. Somewhere in that range.

You can use a GPS app on your phone and compare the GPS speed to your cluster. I would not think using a cluster out of wagon would be a different seeing how they use the same speed senor.

Not all CB clusters are the same. If your cluster is a different make (NS or Denso) then the plugs may vary.

To my knowledge, it should work just fine once it's wired up properly. People swap Prelude clusters in without any major issues. The wheelbase has absolutely nothing to do with the speedometer, and the CB9's overall wheel/tire diameter SHOULD be the same as any EX or SE CB7 (15" wheels on all of those.)

Your right. I forgot it may vary from manufacturer. I also was not aware of using prelude cluster must only be clusters from 97 and on?

Yes, the 5th gen Prelude cluster. There are a few threads about it on here. I have one that I plan to install someday in the future, when I have time. they're not a perfect fit, and require rewiring (I'll be building a subharness for it), but they work.

You can actually get a speedo corrector kit which should do the job if it does happen to be out..

Defined "burned out". Some components not working? Excessive corrosion on the printed circuit board? The gage cluster can be disassembled and individual compoents replaced; you don't necessarily need an entire new cluster depending on what specifically is wrong.
