ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Proper sub setup

Right now, I've got a terrible looking sub set up. Looked like a quick set up from the previous owner, but he put little care into it and I want it to look clean and nice.

It's right now the two subs side by side with aspenite or something.

    It looks bad.

    Pics:

Oh yeah, and duct taping is due to me. With the trunk leaking, the wood has swollen and the subs rattle and it's dreadful.

My opinion is to gut your trunk and rip the existing stereo out.
Fix the leak or leaks that has water coming in your trunk, water and electronics don`t mix. After that, your imagination is as far as your mind will take you.

I hung my amps from the rear dash to get them out of the way, regular rectangle box underneath...simple, clean(when finished), & out of the way.
I still have room for groceries, and access to the spare tire
My friend Co0chysCB7 hid his amps behind the Left & Right trunk liners, very clean look, just a sub box, not 1 single wire laying around.

Fix your moisture issues first, chuck that sub box since its ruined.. anything else i mean is up to you.. but for the best in cabin response you put the sub to the rear of the trunk, with the sub facing to the rear.. good luck

        Thanks guys,

Yeah, I know I gotta fix the leak and get rid of the box. I'm more looking for creating the best in-cabin sound. I don't want to be the dick everyone can hear for 5 blocks, either.(No offense to anyone that does! LOL.)

Like, I was planning on making two seperate sub boxes and put one on each side, one where the jack is kept, and one on the exact opposite side. Put the amps onto the back seat or something like that?

Thatd be pretty dope, and fairly easy with fiberglass and MDF for the baffle.

Fiberglass is awesome!! That`s where your imagination can really go wild.
I have always worked with wood, but 3/4" MDF is heavy, especially if your box is double walled and the amp rack is built out the same stuff.
I have never worked with it personally, but maybe this year I`ll give glass a shot. Could shed some weight losing that big beefy box. I need to weigh it....

I'm excited to get to work on it, I think the trunk of my car could be way better utilized.

I've got to redo mine, I'm hiding the amp and making a carpeted panel shaped to the trunk contours for the front of the box. All you will see is the sub and port.

Thanks I still have a lot of work to do. I'm basically starting over. So the paint will be getting redone as well but most likely just a shade or two darker. I install for a living.
