ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I imagine 2 gauges will fit or maybe 3 and another input can be put in between the middle gauge like a USB port towards the mid sections.

Why not put the deck in the glove box and gauges where the deck used to be and have a fully functional stereo and your gauges?

There're tons of places to move electronics to in a car and with a remote control deck you cna easily change to w/e you want. be it radio/cd/aux or even a SD card/jump drive. Hell you could even run a 3 ft patch cable to the gauge cluster and put it in the dash where you could easily just plug/unplug your aux/usb inputs.

You could end up with the same setup as the picture above with an additional gauge a usb and aux port. While the deck hides in the glove box.

What gauges are you wanting? I can't think of too many that you'd actually need. Hell to save space they do make electronic gauges which can cycle through any sensors hooked up to them.

the amp idea is the best way.

get a 4 channel amp and run it to the speakers. there is a part by peripheral (is335) that will give you the aux input you are looking for and will go into the amp. splitters will be needed.

There's a lot of options for this. Kicker makes a amp with iPod interface for motor cycles, and the amp is tiny, or you can do it the old school way and hid a 7 band eq in your trunk, run the inputs to your 3.5mm jack. This way you have some way to actually tune your system

To keep things simple, why not relocate the head unit into te glove box, just get a fibreglass enclosure, i have seen this down on newer cars, because everything is tied into the factory unit ( nav, heater, a/c, power options etc) people looking to get better quality sound will often place a secondary head unit in the glove box.

If you plan on running an amp... For highs and lows. The you should only need to run the 12v, acc, and antenna to the glove box. Re route your speaker wires to the amp, and make a new ground behind the glove box. The shorter the ground, the better. At least thats what i was told.

When its all said and done... You will have everything you wanted without any losses. Still have a head unit with am/fm, cd, aux etc and still have a place for your guages.

I never use the head unit, well almost never in the last 3 cars I've owned I've turned on the head unit once (and I'm sure that was mainly curiosity.) other than when I listened to my ipod (still a rare occasion). Mostly there are two motives to this

                1. to eliminate the unnecessary, and replace with useful.
                2. To keep my woman interested in riding in my car (no stereo, means we take hers, and I love my cb7)

as far as gauges go I was thinking about
                1. afr
                2. oil temp
                3. fuel pressure
                4. oil pressure
and Room for more If I end up boosted
Here's what I'm working with tell me what you think.
