ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    12v ignition wire not working

So I was installing a radio in my car today, unfortunately the previous owner either did or had a really bad job on the stereo they had in there. Lots of electrical tape and loose wires AND they tore out the original harness. So I had to wire them straight to the car, but it looks like the constant battery wire and 12v switch wire are connected both straight to the battery... and the wire thats supposed to be connected to the switch does not work at all, and does not produce anything on the electrical tester. I tested the fuse and there is a completed current, so it's not the fuse.. any ideas?

Have you test for continuity within the wire itself? Maybe the previous owner was pulling and broke the copper inside. Go over to the12v and see if you could get the wiring color scheme to make sure the wire you are testing is actually the ignition wire.

No I haven't, all do that in the morning but I know its the ignition wire cause its the same color as on the wiring map i found for this year accord. And it wasn't hooked up to anything before, just kinda sitting there unprotected and unused. so you had to turn the radio off manually before you got out. Also having a problem with the front right speaker.. not really working at all so we're gonna pull off the door panel and see if we're getting any electricity over there tomorrow. Kinda hoping its just a blown speaker so i don't have to rewire all this crap lol

One more question, previous owner ripped out the cig lighter for some reason.. how difficult would it be to put back in? if I go to a junkyard or something and rip one out would it be simple splicing the wires back to it?

Yeah, just cut one off at the junkyard before the pigtail and you'll have everything you need. Then you can go kick the previous owner in the balls for being a moron.
