ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Car alarms/car security

My car has no kind of security rather than your ordinary for locks. Is there any type of security I can do that won't blow a huge hole in my wallet?

Are you trying to prevent your car from being stolen or the things inside it from being stolen?

if you can't get an alarm a few kill switches should help a little with theft

The cheapest would probably be to install a kill switch to cut the ignition or starter or fuel. The fuel and ignition would be the strongest deterrents and a combination of all three would be the best.

Alarms are fairly reasonable these days. Even the ones with all the bells and whistles are pretty good price. Get one with starter kill and like already said, place a kill switch on the fuel and your shit should be alright. You could also get a removable steering wheel and a pedal lock if its that serious.

I use a steering wheel bar in my cb7. These cars get stollen alot for parts and this is an affordable way to keepit safe. I would use a brand like "The Club".

You wire up the switch between the power source or ground, and the item your trying to "kill", which is usually a relay of some sort. Then hide the switch in a place where if you were a thief you wouldn't look. I've seen people use the cruise control switch, and even the cigarette lighter as a killswitch before.

If you have soldering skills or know someone with soldering skills, you can repair your old main relay; you just desolder, and resolder every contact, and it will be like new, its what I did to mine. Then return the relay you bought, and get your money back.

The club is worthless. A lot of thieves actually look for cars with the club because they are so easy to bypass. All you have to do is hacksaw thru the steering wheel and slide it out. Then bye bye.
