ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Ah, that's one of the better USB headunits then. I assumed you were like the majority of people who assumed USB automatically bypassed the iPod's DAC

Spl meter would tell you if its not as loud you would loose dbs rta would tell ya if it looses sq not shure if it can tell of it looses sound with an rta ill have to experament you got me cerious now......ive never had an reason to really play with an rta.....now i might have one lol
Yes, you might be able to see a difference in frequency response with an RTA. Especially if the microphone is extremely directional and you can do left/right RTA separate.
As far as the SPL meter, I said you wouldn't be able to tell anything with it because you wouldn't get a different reading. The overall SPL would be either exactly the same, or it'd be within the standard variance for separate readings.

Lmao... Seriously... The amount of crap one has to carry in a car with all the cd holders to cd changers to cases for cd changers then memorize all the tracks and CDs ... Etc.... I think having an iPod with thousands of songs right at your fingertips clearly outweighs that by a mile... And with a Decent head unit you cannot tell the difference..

Yeah I didn't think anything differently. In the past I've had a Pioneer and a Kenwood with iPod control and they all were great. Of course, these were HU's that said "iPod Control" meaning that u plug up the bottom of the iPod and u have actual control over it thru the deck, obviously differnent from the HU's that have the jack where u plug the cord into the earphone and into the jack. Those are bullshit because the controls clash, u can basically mess with the iPod volume, EQ, etc and the deck's separately which causes problems. I believe thats what SPLCB7 was talking about when he was speaking on losing 30% quality and all that.

And my fault homie I should of read your post more thoroughly I didn't mean to come off like an ass.

And to the OP. If u decide to go with iPod, make sure its a deck that has the real iPod control, not the earphone jack hook up. Like already said, either way u can use the iPod but the HU's with the REAL control apparently have this bypass thing SPLCB7 and Sarthos are talking about. Thats the one u want, trust me. The only issue with iPod control HU's is that it takes some getting used to controlling it thru the deck. U want to make sure u get a deck that mimics the iPod as closely as possible, those are the easiest to learn and use.

CD changer is in dash. Not exactly a lot to carry around. Book of CDs slides under the seat. CD changer also has the advantage of voice control once I get off my butt and hook that up. And then of course the advantage of saving the 200 dollars on the iPod, instead spending 80 on a changer and 120 on an amp... Definitely an advantage to the CDs

Clarion makes pretty good cd/dvd players. I have a cd player at the moment that has aux and a usb plug in. And they have good quality and they sell pretty cheap double din dvd players with all the gadgets you could want on ebay.
