my subs: 2 12inch rockford fosgate, 800 watts each max, dual 4 ohms each, 2.5 inch voice coil each, 2 farrat capacitor.
old amp that burn out on me: 1200 watt sony xplod, 2/1 channel.
brand new amp: planet audio px2 1600 watt amp ( axis series), 2 channel, 2 ohms.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PLANET-AUDIO...ht_4124wt_1270.
story: i hooked up the new amp myself, didnt turn on. took it to a pro. they got it to work by upgrading the main 12v power wire fuse.
problem: amp gets hot within 10 min of normal pounding and then stops working after blowing both fuses. ( capacitor remains on )
i went back immediately and the guy that fixed it said that i need an amp with 1 ohm and not 2 ohm or change the subs with ones that are dual 2 ohms. his point was that the amp and the subs dont match. he suggested changing the subs and not the amp cus it would be cheaper.
any information or suggestion will be appreciated.
