ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

did i really get the wrong amp for my set up? please help!

my subs: 2 12inch rockford fosgate, 800 watts each max, dual 4 ohms each, 2.5 inch voice coil each, 2 farrat capacitor.

old amp that burn out on me: 1200 watt sony xplod, 2/1 channel.

brand new amp: planet audio px2 1600 watt amp ( axis series), 2 channel, 2 ohms.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/PLANET-AUDIO...ht_4124wt_1270.

story: i hooked up the new amp myself, didnt turn on. took it to a pro. they got it to work by upgrading the main 12v power wire fuse.

problem: amp gets hot within 10 min of normal pounding and then stops working after blowing both fuses. ( capacitor remains on )

i went back immediately and the guy that fixed it said that i need an amp with 1 ohm and not 2 ohm or change the subs with ones that are dual 2 ohms. his point was that the amp and the subs dont match. he suggested changing the subs and not the amp cus it would be cheaper.

any information or suggestion will be appreciated.

Yeah with dual 4's you can wire at 1ohm and 4ohm,I say keep the subs and find a 1 ohm stable mono block amp,you can pick up another planet audio for cheap off ebay..

check out the wire diagram to find out what you want

Hate to say it, but whoever sold you that amp ripped you off, big time. The new planet audio stuff puts out nowhere near close to its rated wattage, and get so hot they feel like the case is gonna melt.

Change the amp, that one is not very good at all. What are the fuse sizes even?

thanks for the info so far but cant series or parallel wiring help me run the sound system normally without blowing up the fuses and heating up the amp.

can i keep my set up and wire it differently to run it normally?( parallel or series wirring? ) or do i really need another amp or subs? ( the only reason i got this amp was because i wanted to replace it with the same number of ohms and channels the sony old amp had which was working fine with minor heating issues for a good 2 years and it was used ) i didnt have the blowing fuse problem and yet its the same number ohms and channels and wen iot finally failed the fuses were not blown.

and yes the planet audio fuses are 25 and the sony i used to have was 40

if i were to change to a monoblock. which one is a good bang for your buck and i want to spend about 150$ cus i paid 113$ for the planet audio amp i got now that i may return.

Wire your subs diffrently so the ohm load isnt at 1 ohm...then you should be fine...

Don't take your amp back to the shop that "upgraded the main 12v wire power fuse" those fuses are a certain size for a certain reason.
Don't expect to push those subs with anything you're buying for $150 in the power range you need; it's going to be garbage.

Having said that, listen to SPLCB7. Change the way you have them wired. You should be able to run them at 4 ohms or in stereo (2 channel X 2 ohms)with no problems and honestly, with that amp, stereo looks like the way to go.

            •RMS Power: 200 Watt x 1 Channel @ 4 Ohm
            •RMS Power: 350 Watt x 2 Channel @ 2 Ohm
            •MAX Power: 800 Watt x 2 Channel @ 2 Ohm

The link he gave you is an excellent website to help you start understanding car audio. You also should brush up on basic electronics so you'll understand how things work and what you're looking for.

Next time, save up and buy a decent amp. That thing looks like garbage from the size and specs, my 600 watt Alpine is the same size. With car audio, you almost always get what you pay for. If it seems cheap compared to other equipment in the same power range, it's just junk 99.9% of the time.
