ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

How many watts safe to push on stock electrical?

whats a pretty safe wattage to push on the stock electrical on these cars?

My Accord came with a T.M.A 500.1 and a Digital Designs 500 series (300rms/1200max at 4ohm) installed in the DD prefab when I bought it.

Sounds good but, a little less thump than i'm used to from my system.

I still have my Alpine PDX 1.1000 and my Blaupunkt VW1000 (had plans to upgrade to an FI BL/SSA Icon before I sold my last car and will if I install into the Accord)

So question before I go through the trouble of pulling the 8AWG rockford wire out and put the 4AWG knuconceptz wire I have leftover from my last install in. Will I be ok pushing 1000 watts on stock electrical? will probably upgrade to a deep cycle if I do that (optima yellow top)

Do you mean will it crush ur alt?

Probably not... Tho upgrading the chargeback wires is always a good idea. I say that because... I am running 3 amps in my car. Total system power is 1100watts rms ish... And ive been on stock alt for years.

    Good batt is a must.

You will def want to run 4 gauge to the amps.

As for as power through factory speaker wires. No more than 150 decent watts...

lol na, i just was wondering how many amps is safe to pull from your stock electrical on an amp without working the alt too hard.

Judging by what you're saying though, 1000 rms should be fine with a deep cycle batt. wasnt sure since the alt seems fairly small on the car

I already knew everything else though, thanks for the help

The pdx is pretty efficient, you should be able to get away using that. If it was a big A/B then no way your alt will like that.

do the big 3 and add a extra battery so u dont drain the system to much on hard bass notes..its not nessacery but it will sound a hell of alot better cause the amps wont struggle for power.

Since every thread in the audio section has someone saying to upgrade the big 3, I'm assuming the big 3 is a pretty huge upgrade on our accords? (havnt really taken the time to look all that hard) My old car had 4AWG from the factory so big3 wasnt worth it on stock alt.

well the "Big 3" isn't just popular with our cb's, its good with anyone trying to get the most out of their alt.

well the total wattage output from our alts are
                    1064w at 13.3v
                    1152w at 14.4v
                    1224w at 15.3v
but our car need bout 30% for its self so we have ... left for our system
                    744.8w at 13.3v
                    806.4w at 14.4v
                    856.8w at 15.3v
take into consideration that this is rms wattage because well rms is continuous wattage. hope this is helpfull.
(btw this is not taking the batt into consideration it is only the alt. output.)

you're right, but its also unnecessary on some cars . ex: A lot of euro cars already have 0-2gauge wire on their big 3.

I prolly could have done it in the scion but I didnt have any issues with voltage drop on either the 1350.1 planet audio or the pdx 1.1000 so I just left it

nice info on the chart, too!

thanks man. and yeah my 93 lx still has 4 awg from the factory so i dont need the big 3.... yet lol. I'm running a 1000.1 hitron and a 12" xplod so its still unneeded for me and I'm only getting a faint voltage drop almost unnoticeable.

CB's use 90 amp alts? Most vehicle electrical systems draw 50-60 amps depending on vehicle load and acc load. Given the benefit of the doubt you have 30 amps of head room to play with. You can certainly get away with a 1000w RMS amp and a decent battery, as the amp isn't always running at peak output but over time your alternator will take a nice beating. Try to avoid idling for too long with your system at full tilt. Voltage drop is a lot more severe at idle when you have less amperage output.
