ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

You can mount a circle upside down? What if your sub didn't have a logo?
jk Subs aren't that sensitive. They don't care about shape either, only volume.

^^^ bird is the word....btw sealed works better with rounded insideds not squared and ported work better with an 45 on the power corners only ie the corner on the other side of the port so the air goes to the port....atleast thats what i understand....and 3cubic feet isnt that big lol but for 10s would work great...

I've always gone with the general guide of sealed for SQ, ported for SPL. though I have heard well designed ported boxes that sound very good and have nice tight response.

I'd recommend sealed if you want to build yourself unless you pick up blueprinting or know how to design ported boxes properly. Sealed will also yield a smaller box, and use up less space.

For ported box I normally wouldn't recommend something prefabricated unless it was built for the particular speaker. (ex: digi designs builds or used to build a ported box spec'ed for their entry line sub) Otherwise I would hit up a reputable shop and have one built for your particular application.

as stated above, manufacturers specs for each speaker generally have a minimum and recommended enclosure size for each speaker, and are a good starting point in your search.

            good luck!

I've always preferred ported boxes personally.

Its all about the kind of sound you want. I had 12" punch p2 subs in a sealed box. It sounded nice.

Sealed boxes cant be tunes for different hertz levels as easily as ported boxes. Bandpass boxes have fell off in the past few years as subs have gotten bigger and more powewrful. Definitely go with a ported box

Yea, for SPL's Subs are sensitive. matchin face's on the sub will mess up your speaker.
the difference is that the magnets actually bounce off each other instead of pulling together.

What does the magnet have to do with the front of the sub? or am I misreading that?

As for output, ported will hit hardest at a certain range (that its tuned to) but a sealed box, the more square shaped the better will give you the most bass for the buck across the entire bass range. 1' to 1.5' is typical for a 10" sub. You also want to make sure each sub is in its own enclosure, regardless of the box design. Can be one box, but with 2 chambers, one for each sub. Subs sharing a single box can disrupt each other and you lose something with this setup.

Also, typically, whether in a trunk or hatchback, facing the sub(s) towards the rear of the car will usually result in harder hitting bass.

If your not overly concerned about HARD bass, just buy a prefab box, drop em in there and see how it sounds, if your happy with it your done, if not, return it to Best Buy, LOL. If you want to build a box, your options are many, I did know a guy years ago that built 2 sealed boxes and put them on either side of his trunk with the subs facing the middle of the trunk, looked and sounded good and he didnt lose much trunk space.

                              In the red. . .
i was confirming that the speaks will cause damage over time to them selves, the two magnets will want to pull different ways because of the frequencies.
So, it doesnt effect the speaker if you're not conerned about SPL, and not turning it up loud.

I'm still lost. I don't see how a subs magnet could aid in the destruction of itself.
                                Could you give an example?
