ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Dome tweeter placement

I just bought a pair of some Pioneer speakers, model number (TS-A1604C). I am stumped on where to place the tweeters that came with them. I figure I'll just put them by the top of the back window but my one year old might rip them down. Then I thought of putting them in the top corners of the front window but I rather them be discreet and not cause too much attention. I'm really just looking for a good place to get the optimal sound out of them.
    Any suggestions?

Near the door handles. That's where i put my tweeters.

Are these front or rear speakers? That makes a huge difference... lol.

Tecnically for best sound reproduction and quality tweeters should be mounted below the woofer, more like down in the kick panel. most however will usually make a fiberglass setup in the mirror covers or mount them in the doors around the door handle area, which is fine. Personally i cut and custom mounted mine in the door panel as far forward and up as possible. You running a crossover?

Why below the woofer? I've never heard that one before tbh.

What's the technicality behind mounting the tweeter in the kick and under the woofer?

The only reason I didn't say kick is because higher frequencies are easily blocked by objects (legs, bags, paper, etc.)

It has to do with high sound waves travelling linear and faster than lower frequencies. As long as you have them pointed correctly, the sound from a tweeter should hit your ear closer to the same time as the lower midrange if it is mounted below and further.

It's kinda hard to explain, but it's all in the mecp master manual, I believe in the section about sound quality and such. It's been a while though.

speed of sound=343.2/s and in an ideal gas is independent of frequency.
Simply sound travels the same speed regardless of frequency <--for the regular ppl.

Anyway I think it has something to do with perceived loudness and phasing and maybe frequency response. I know it has alot to do with wavelengths, crossover frequencies and center to center spacing and of course PLD's.

OT: I think I should get my MECP certification. Then I could get a side job doing installs...well that was my random thought of the day.

They are the front speakers. I'm waiting on how they sound to determine if I want to buy the rear speakers. I might just end up getting them anyway.

Well I'm no expert at making and cutting anything fiberglass. So I just plan on using some 3m command strips and stick them like that just in case I want to change the position. As for your other question they have an integrated crossover. I'm pretty sure its not the best far as controlling the frequency but I really need some new speakers. I don't plan on getting any woofers in my trunk so I hope these do me well.

If they're the front speakers don't put the tweeters in the rear.

And luckily you beat me to it, high frequency soundwaves don't travel faster than low frequency ones... That'd really suck, especially if that were the case for light, that'd destroy science .

And you really don't want to mount them below. That puts obstacles that high frequencies have trouble penetrating in your way, also makes it really hard to sound right even without obstacles. You have to point the tweeters perfectly to make the sound sound like it's coming from in front of you rather than underneath you.

Pull your door panels and use the template that came with your new speakers to cut a hole in your door panels, as mentioed high and up front in front of the door handle JUST like the OEM Integra tweeters. Just measure your template on both sides so the hole is in the same position on both doors and take your time cutting the hole. I was using a razor knife one time and sliced the vinyle

Here is an example of what most are refering to......

Yea I ended putting them in the empty spot where you hide the wires for the side mirrors. Sounds great!

You're right. Like I said it's been awhile. It's not the speed of the sound waves. But it is recommended at the very least to not mount them more than a foot apart to maintain proper soundstage imaging and quality. Most high end factory and aftermarket installs will indeed have them low in the door panel or in the kick panels for a reason.
