ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Glove box radio?

    Glove box radio?

I will likely be installing a radio I have lying around shortly into my cb7. I have considered placing it in my glove box somehow so that I can keep the stock look inside my car, because that is one of the most appealing things to me about it atm.

    Has anyone tried this?
    Does this seem feasible?
Does this seem like it could be user friendly?

I always have stupid ideas that I try just because I can, so you are more than welcomed to tell me that's stupid or whatever. I will still likely attempt it, just wanting some input before I do.

My friend used to do this, because he was afraid of theft, so he shoved his radio into his glovebox and worked it from there, haha.

user friendly, maybe not so much and it also might be kinda dangerous too to have it so far away.

it's good for stealth though, and sounds like a neat idea what are you gonna do about the center console area though?

Well where I live now I'm not so much concerned with theft, but that aspect would make me feel better about life. I will rig up some way so that it is mounted and not just thrown in. I will also have a remote, or be using my mp3 player most of the time, as I won't have an antenna to pick up the radio.

The center console area will retain the stock radio for now, but in the future it will hold gauges

I will be posting pictures of everything I do to my car. I am still paying on it, so mods will be going slowly. The gauges will not be going in there for a while. First I have to need them. So that will mean, I'll have to finish building my F22 and be ready for tuning, and have my h22 tranny. All that is a little while away. First suspension, wheels, I/H/E, and the radio thing, since I have it laying around.

I do need the harness that is supposed to connect to the back of the radio, anyone know where I could get one???

When I say harness for the radio, I mean the part that actually plugs into the radio, not the adapter to integrate it into the factory wiring harness.

In addition to my ninja radio mod (lol), I may be adding a small sub behind the front seat(s). A small sealed custom box bolted to the floor with a slab of dynomat or something in between the box and the floor, as I will be removing my carpet.

                    Anyone else done this?

make a faceplate for the deck in the glovebox, some sort of surround made out of wood or plastic or something to clean up the install

you could get a rectangular piece of material, cut a single-din size rectangle in it and drop the radio in, i think that'll be pretty neat

                          .........

I have been wanting to do this since I sold my DA 2 years ago and have not thought of this.

I like the way you think though! I will def be doing that!

I mean, that's where I'm gonna put it, but it'll be my whole radio.

you could get a sheet of abs plastic such as this, cut to fit the glove box and secured with L brackets. Then cut out a slot to fit your radios mounting cage. Ive done it a few times although never on a cb7.
If you have a sony with the 16 pin plug (the most common) you can use SOY16-80B, made my metra iirc, check ebay.

Shoot, you could even try this, separate your glovebox: one side is the stereo, and the other side for storage

orange is the stereo, that section will be closed off and the space will strictly be used by the stereo and wires and stuff. the other side will have a hinged hatch that you can lift up or something to gain access into the remaining area of the glovebox.
