ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Which amp is better?

well my amp just took a crap on me so I'm in the market for a new one.
I'm trying to get something around 1000 or 12000 so I won't have to buy again when I upgrade to a bigger system. right now it will be pushing a twelve and a ten. I'm between the following two, give me input please or lead me to a better one. I'm really not trying to spend any more then 100 bucks.

    or.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-XPLOD-XM-16...item3cae5d7287

I'm a little iffy on the sony because it is refurbed but then again, not sure how the Boss is.

I have had 3 of those Sony amp's and never had any problems with any of them. I beat on them too, always run at full power. I used one to push 2 JL vrc 12"s and they slammed something fierce. I would go Sony, imo they are better built and more established than Boss. Either way both amps probably only push about 200-300 watts constant.

well I had a 600w crunch, and it was far too weak to push two twelves.

Again, a 600 watt crunch probably only puts out 200 watts or so. Any amp that needs to state a max power rating only does it because their rms output is crap. What kind of 12"s do you have or want, I can point you in the right direction for a well matched amp ?

If your looking for some power you can never go wrong with kicker, if you can find a cheap zx or dx amp that will push anything you could want.....hard...

But as far as the two you have there I have never had any experience with either but I hear sony aint that bad

well right now I have a sony xplod "1300 watt" the black one, and an older JL 12. not sure on upgrade later on probly some kicker L7s or something. but I'm trying to find the best amp I can to push two twelves for $120 or less because I'm on a budget and won't have any more money coming in.

Check this amp out. Should be more than enough for what you have now and its at a really good price.

seems like a legit amp, but I was hoping to find something cheaper if I could. because I only have $150(Graduation money) and I don't want to spend it all on an amp

you should never go cheap on an amp.
it is the most important part in the system.

a good amp will power shitty subs, but a shitty amp wont power good subs.

you not wanting to spend more than $100 for a 1200 watt amp is just gonna make you buy a new amp in the near future because your subs will either blow it or you wont be happy with the amount of power

and do you want 1200 watt or 1200 RMS?

Between the two I would recommend the sony. Neither will come near to the rated power output but sony is well respected and have been making products for a long time.
