ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Best Box for 10" Subs

I have a Boston Acoustic sealed box for my MA Audio 10"s. Wanting to go to a ported box that I'm going to custom build to mount my subs above my back seat and extend the box towards the trunk. Any ideas or pointers? I've searched for this on other sites, but to my knowledge I have yet to see someone do this... any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Not too sure what your talking about here Could you possibly clarify a bit more? Are you talking about mounting your subs in your rear deck with the box underneath? If so it is not too easy if you want it to come out right. You would have to work around a whole bunch of stuff including the springs for the trunk lid and what not. I have a friend who does custom audio installs and he has done this in a couple BMW's but it was a lot of fabrication and fiberglass work.

before anything.. find some technical data from the manufacturer of the speaker and find out if what you got is meant for a sealed, ported, bandpass box, or free air.. it should also tell you the recommended size/s of the box and length of the port if so..

Thanks. I found the specifications and they say I can use either sealed or ported.

Yes I am talking about mounting my subs above the rear deck with a ported box underneath. I knew it would be difficult... Just wasn't sure where I needed to start.

Cut a two holes in the rear deck.
            Deaden deck
            Make a baffle.
Mount the box to the baffle along with port (preferably 4" pipes with flared ends)
            Mount subs to baffle.
            Done

buy some gas struts to hold the trunk open it will be a lot easier to do if you can remove those trunk springs.
