ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

It's one of those things you have to play around with it to get it right.
Do you know how to input the parameters?

I do, but one of the values are missing from there website. After i put in the parameters, the ported section shows me a round port, i want a slot or square port design, I guess I have to mess with it. I also want to know this, a box can be whatever cubes tuned to whatever, but dose the shape or surface area of the port have anything to do with the output and performance? For instance, if you have two enclosures with the same amount of cubit feet in the box design, and there both tuned to the same hz, but the port surface area is different- dose that make any difference in spl or sql that you will achieve overall?

Surface area is very important when making a ported box.

If you have too small of a surface area you risk loss of output and lots of port noise. Well there is no such thing as too much surface area as long as the box tuning stays the same. It's kind of like blowing through a straw vs a 1" pipe.

Port shape doesn't matter. You could have a slot or round port as long as the surface areas are the same they'll sound about the same. The good thing about round ports though are that when you flare them, you can reduce port noise.

That makes sense. i have been messing re's box calculator what should i tune this thing too? All I know is what they recommend, but is that for spl, or sql? who knows....lol

sorry i have been away. i have had both and there is not difference really .... its the area the port takes up. plus if your tight on space its easier to take a round port and use it externally and make bends. like alot of the CRX guys that are doing that shit where the box is HUGE and the port fires along the hatch and shit. fucking assholes i hate competing against CRX's.... assholes

my friend has like a 1200 watt RMS @ 2 OHM Boston acoustic SUB that he bought from some garage sail at a millionaires estate. He got it for like 100 $ and its worth well over 500 $ lol it is the best sub I have ever heard, I had it in my car for a while with like a 400 watt RMS @ 2 ohm amp it was really only a 200 watt rms but since the subs capapble of 2 ohm it takes advantage of cheap amplifiers and it sounded hella good for what I was powering it with. I mean like I could pull up to a steak n shake meet and have the loudest bass there lol so people would just let me bump for the meet.

but maybe you shouuld look into boston acoustic subs i dont know anything about em except the one I borrowed which was insane.

the best single 12" sub in both cost, reliability, and SQ in my opinion is the Rockford Fosgate 12 P2. i have just one of these ($100-120) depends where you go and it hits harrrd. you cant really ask much more from one single twelve, honestly.. oh and 300rms/ 600 peak. so its right in your range.
