ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

auto start on manual

The clutch can be bypassed to use remote start to start a car with a manual transmission. However, if the car is left in gear, it will still start and can take off unoccupied.Originally posted by chessboxerWe know these are good cars, but for some reason, all the world wants are freaking civics and tegs. Bleck.

There is a way to install a neutral safety switch so the alarm wont let it start unless it's in neutral. I'll try to find the site where I saw how to do it. It basically works by a wire grounding out with the shifter in any gear, then when in neutral the wire doesn't touch anything.Originally posted by chessboxerWe know these are good cars, but for some reason, all the world wants are freaking civics and tegs. Ive got one. I was wondering the same thing, because I know that there is nothing telling the ECU that the car is in neutral. There is no electrical connection for any gear (besides reverse I guess).
The way mine is installed is:
When you park (car still running) you have 30 sec. after you pull the handbrake. You push the start button on the remote. Wait for the 3 flashes from the parking lights, then pull the keys from the ignition. Open the door, exit the vehicle, close the door. The car is still running. I hit the start button (or the lock button) and the car shuts off. It is now armed.
If I open one of the doors before starting the car with the remote, then the system trips and the remote start is no longer armed.
I think the theory is that if you leave the car while it is running, there is no way it can be left in gear. And if you open a door while it is not running and armed, you could potentially put it in gear.
So once I arm my start, I dont go into the car without starting it remotely, otherwise the system trips and unarms itself.
Does that make sense? Like I said, its goofy, but I don't know any other fail-safe way.
When I remote start it, I also unlock the doors. Once I get in, if i put the handbrake down or touch the clutch before putting the keys in, it stalls. This also keeps my from habitually pushing the clutch in and turning the key to "start" which would destroy my starter fairly quickly on an already running car.
Hope that helps
