ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I mean its not like the shifter can accidentally slip from neutral to 1st

well i guess did the auto to manual conversion w/o hooking up the NSS so thats why its so easy for me to have a remote start
I park on a hill at home so I usually leave it in 2nd in case the e-brake fails. I also have remote start on my auto-to-manual conversion but have the NSS on a toggle switch next to the cruise button. The car won't start without that switch activated and I have religiously gotten into the habit of killing that switch every time I shut the car off (really I find it off all the time and don't even remember touching it). To enable remote start I have to leave that switch on, and it takes such a conscious effort to turn that switch back on that I remember to take it out of neutral. This system would only work for people who are normally a calculated thinker, not everyone is.

I did it this way because I already had the remote start installed on the auto and didn't want to re-wire it. If I purchased another 5spd car, I would definitely install it to work the correct way as has been described in previous posts, it's really the only safe way to do it.

I back up Compustar being a good brand!

Wherm, id like to know too, lol.

I have an auto, but ive only been working in a dealership for just over a year and you have no idea how many people have come in with aftermarket auto-starts on their MTs and have ran into trees, other cars, their house, their neighbor's house, etc.

If you can remember to put it in N everytime, then do it. Or if you have some way of making sure your car doesnt take off, then go for it.

I'm not sure if it would go far though, because you need to gas to be able to continue moving without stalling

Typically the starter can move the car with the ebrake on. Typically a remote starter will crank three times then give up. Say it only moves two feet each cycle. That is 6 feet total. That is plenty far to run over someone, hit a house, another car, etc. I have personally seen it many times..

Viper, compustar, etc all make remote starters for manuals. Dont be a dumbass and just buy the right thing in the begining.

BTW there is no neutral position switch on manual Hondas.
Only car I have seen it on are a couple new Mazdas and subarus.

Yea it's nice to be lazy but you will regret it when the wiring faults and you become stranded because your car won't start. We also send customers away to a stereo shop to have them installed, not that we couldn't do it but because they are sure to be back bickering that their cars won't start.
If installed correctly, the remote start system cannot possibly block the main ignition from starting the car. And I've had the Compustar system for about 3-4 years and not one problem (installed it myself).

Ummm NO....... if the car has issues starting then you cant do it

No offense to the mechanics out there but putting a remote starter in a cb7 is one thing... But working on a modern car (push button Nissan, Push button Toyota, Chrysler with fake Mercedes style key, etc) is a specialized thing.

I do $7000+ dollars of remote starters a month at new car dealerships that sub out the work because they understand this. I have never had a car not start because of a remote starter. I have been blamed by mechanics that don't know what they are doing and I or co workers have diagnosed the true issue with the car and send them bills all the time. Get the typical mechanic or car owner working on the car they can cause pretty serious damage hacking a starter in there..

You would be amazed at how many remote starters I have put in mechanics cars that "just dont have the time" ... Yet they can sit and wait around till I am done

Another weird thing because I guarantee I bill out atleast double major manufacture labor rate.. So that cant be the reason....... Oh its because of the time it takes the typical mechanic to install a starter.... More time=less per hour
